Can archery be powerful without sneaking?

I want to make a character that focuses mainly on bows but I don't want him to be a sneaky character, is it possible for archery to be able to stand up with melee or mages this way?

with a companion or summon its pretty easy, enemies will just arrows and bolts like candy til you smith or enchant your gear, which gets old quick. i only used the crossbow in dawngaurd and did fine, with zero sneaking in heavy armor

Oh yes. I have an archery-only character around level 55-60 (been awhile since I used him) and with the Ranger, Power Shot and Quick Shot perks you can absolutely demoralize and demolish groups of enemies. Keep in mind, you do need to keep some distance to avoid taking melee damage but with the new Dawnguard crossbows that isn't as much of a problem. You will struggle at times until you get Archery to 70 for the Ranger perk but it's worth it. Actually until then I would suggest using a crossbow for skull smash and stagger effect.
