Can't attach script to some actors

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 9:21 pm

Can anyone tell me why the script window is disabled for some actors and not others?

I don't have the CK open, but from the top of my head I suspect it is because they are using another Actor as a Template.

That would've been my first guess, but even some that don't have a template have it disabled.

On which actors are you seeing a disabled script panel?

The one I'm trying to edit specifically is the base template for the Vampire Fledgling... I can't remember the exact id but it was something to the effect of "EncVampireFledglingTemplate00"

So yeah, most of the templates take the script from their base object. Either uncheck the "Use Script" box or edit the script data on the ActorBase that the template inherits.

(I know you said there are some non-templated ones that have it disabled, but unless you can tell me which ones, I can't help. :-) )

That is one of the ones I'm talking about. There is no template listed for it, because it is the base template used by the other Vampire Fledgling NPCs. I'm at work so I can't get to the exact id in the CK, but it's the base template for the Vampire Fledgling. There are many others, though.

Ah ha! Yes. Actors that serve as templates cannot have scripts on their base. You *can* put it on the actors who use this template, or on the references.

Sorry for the confusion! I actually had to do some digging to figure out what was going on, if it's any consolation. :-)
