I can't believe John Carmack would let something like this p

this is unreal, I would never in a million years expect something like this coming out of ID Softwares, an dev team that pretty much created true PC gaming and the idea of tweaking. What in the world is going on?

The texture swapping as you spin really removes you from the game, and most of the textures in the Ghost Hideout are worse than Doom (circa '93) textures... it is REALLY disappointing.. back on the forums b/c of yet ANOTHER crash as I leave the ghost hideout ....

/agree, I'm pretty disappointed atm.

Unless you're experiencing some kind of issue that I haven't had, that's just hyperbole.

This isn't though.

It isn't Hyperbole, the textures on most of the walls are awful - look like 8 bit at best (specifically everything in the green shaded areas), and not sure what you mean by "this isn't though" unless you're trying to say my post was annoying.. you didn't have to respond - and the texture loading really does dispell my suspension... I realize the game looks majestic as you stand still and svck in the 'wallpaper', but it's VERY xbox-esque, really disappointing when you have a top notch PC.

I meant that complaining about the texture issue when moving or even slowly moving the field of view is not hyperbole.

done for the night - 30 minutes to finally find a combination of settings to actually run, and crashes about 90% of the time when you save ... just did the radio tower everything ANOTHER Jean Claude Gawd Dam crash . . . hope a patch comes out soon...

Just got this on PC. Was Uber pumped, went to video settings, and seen the only thing you could change was the AA >.<

I hope they release a patch like they did with Crysis 2

I mean, come on. Some of the textures in Doom 3 look better than this.

Edit: However, I am not suffering from any crashes you guys are suffering from. Maybe make sure your drivers are up to date?

this is pretty pathetic.. no video options at all. not even FOV? the reason i play on a PC is for better video tuning, better graphics and overall a better experience.. otherwise i would play on a console.

it seems with each game that comes out for PC it gets worse and worse.. when are things going to get better? they always ignore PC folks yet for the most part we are the loyalist.

Valve is the only one that gets it right from the start.. they know what gamers want and always takes good care of them. you'd think other developers would get a hint and follow along.

Looks like PC's are becoming MMO machines, and consoles are taking over everything else. . .

What a load of BS.
No one wants product activation, forced updates, or in-game advertisemant. No one wants to MOD on a monopoly gun-to-the-head platform (Steamworks) where people can have their MOD project pulled at any time for any reason.
Counter-Strike and TFC were originally FREE MOD's for Half-Life... then greedy Valve came along, bought out the rights for them and started charging people for them.

You call that knowing what gamers want??? Come on man.
You obviously haven't been gaming since the good old days where gaming was "for gamers by gamers" and studios owned and ran by computer enthusiasts... or maybe you dont give two * about your freedom. Either way, Valve are scum bags that have destroyed gaming on PC.
The most tragic part is how so many people happily swallow their BS.

Well thanks guys for letting me know.

You just lost a sale for your incredible stupidity ID Software.

I was about to pick this up tomorrow, but I refuse to pay money to a company that is doing something like this.

PC FPS inventors turning their back on PC, 'Insert cuss-word'.

Honestly what the F are they thinking?

Oh, I am spreading this news to my clan/community.
Nice snow ball you got ID Software, the new joke developer.

Does your monitor even output more than 60Hz in the resolution your playing? If no, then you can't tell any difference above 30FPS, infact, be happy its locked at 30, because your chips are not using resources going to waste and have more room for buffering. my monitor does 75 hertz, the game is incredibly choppy. Period. I have a GTX 590, I should not be getting fps dips down to 52 fps plus texture pop ins. I'm sure these issues will be patched.

This just in: Remember the golden ages of PC gaming? Quake, Half-Life, Starcraft? Guess what, none of these games have any major video settings besides resolution and color adjustment.
