Can't believe im saying this...but Delphie is a genius

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:07 pm

Now here me out because hell i cant believe it either but was just outside pondering all about whats being said about the "blades" and how they'r not like the other blades in the game and etc etc and then it hit me. When were the blades ever good at their job? they did horrible as the Emporer's bodyguards and such..so when were they ever good at their job? And then it hit me...the last time they were excellent at thier jobs were when they were dragonslayers. Hell they did such an awesome job that ALL the dragons FLED thier country into another country. Yes the blades were good at spywork but spywork can also be counted into tracking abilities of a dragon hunter. U would need ot be very sneaky and such to sneak up on a dragon or gathering info on wre the dragons are located or where they would be at.

So it hit me that delphie did a genious thing "most likely unintentional" by goign back to thier roots to were they were actually good at something. They failed at keeping the emporers alive and because the country turned thier back on them, they failed at keeping thier country safe. so instead of constantly failing, they are going back and doing something new/old and gonna start killing dragons like they used to...when they were actually good at soemthing.

That's not genius that's desperation. Genius would be handling the situation in the complete opposite in which she handles it, ham-handedly and without reason or sense. It's not the Dragon Wars anymore, thousands of years have passed. The dragons are back but it's a whole new ball game, and Delphine is using an outdated playbook.

I wouldnt say its outdated since we have ti use an outdated method to take down the most powerful dragon, and also these aint new dragosn, these are all the dragosn they have alrdy put down. A sword could kill a person 1000 years ago and it can still kill soemone today as well...just have to be more crafty and 2 paranoid agents that have evaded capture from one of the games most powerful spy networks.id say they crafty enough. also wouldnt say its desperation, just maybe saw the light and either saw they aint cut out to be bodyguards and bootlickers OR that their purpose was lost and fulfilled 200 years ago with the last dragonborn septim emporer death. The blades swore to tiber septim's leneage and since thats gone 200 years ago, they following the dragonborn of today and wantig him to be like tiber septim of old when tiber septim was killing dragons and only keeping them alive when A. they submitted to his will or B. had to kill 'innocents" or a group of pasifists that would have major political backlash on his compaign to get to the dragons.

She did manage to sneak through the back door of a dungeon and leave a note, while the dumb dragonborn went in through the front door facing death multiple times in the long and tedious process...

However, that's because the game designers wouldn't let us in the back door without a key, and the Skeleton Key won't unlock the door. How she managed to get a key to the door is beyond my comprehension.

But I know what floor pressure plates look like. Too bad Lydia doesn't. She was sword fodder. I know what tripwires look like. I know how to "pull" encounters, and lure them into oil and ignite the oil. I know how to sprint and kill stuff before it rises out of its casket. PS: I also had a decent set of armor. Pbbbtttttt!!!!

But she also missed out on a ton of gems.....gems that could be sold for a good sum of gold.

They did as good of a job as anyone possibly could have to prevent the Emperor's assassination in Oblivion.. All of the Mythic Dawn was after him; the Emperor had seen it in a vision that he was doomed to be assassinated eventually. The Blades did a great job protecting Martin until he figured out how to use the power of the Amulet of Kings. I really don't know how you can criticize them..

I don't think it's so much that the Blades svck at guarding the Emperor but that we're around the few times something bad does happen. If they would've succeeded in guarding him in Arena and Oblivion our storylines wouldn't have happened, there would have been no need. And we don't know that they haven't foiled other attempts on life of some Emperors, might be a common thing and we just happen to be around when they've slipped up.

Which begs the question, did they fail to protect him because he was destined to be assassinated, or was he assassinated because the Blades failed to protect him?

That makes no sense. If it was unintentional then it wasnt genius.

I'm pretty sure that it was my own character who failed Uriel. Not that I was ever obligated to help him, but I was the only guy in the room with him when that Mythic Dawn came through the walls and killed him. Baurus only gets there a second late. The other Blades are dead.

But it will be, if Alduin isn't stoped. A lot of people still think too politically in this game and see the Thalmors as the real threat, but that is only if you are playing as a man. I think this might be due to Betheseda failing to make the Main Quest line a little bit more climactic.

actually in Oblivion, YOU failed to protect the Emporer. Baurus says " I'll be right back, protect the emporer with your life." but then the mythinc dawn assassin comes in and kills uriel Septim. there were only 2 blades left to protect him so you can't blame the blades.

Sure you can! Okay, I'll say it: it was the Blades' fault.

I gotta go pee, hey noob fresh outta prison, you guard the emperor. Yeah, great idea.

Back to the roots heh? i never saw delphine killing a dragon, ok she tried to kill the dragon at kynesgrove but everytime on a palythrough when i come to this point i let her try to kill the dragon without any help from me an she always fails, getting roast beefed and punished for good. The Blades nowadays aren't real dragonslayers they are just good for nothing would-be Blades, one old hag and one old veteran.

I don't see it as genius. I see it as taking hold of the last opportunity the blades have. If the dragons had not reappeared there would be nothing for the blades to do. It is their last chance at something. I won't even say greatness, it is something for them to do other than hide from the Thalmor and dream.
