Can My Computer Run Skyrim

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:53 pm

I was thinking of buying Skyrim, but I just haven't had the money at the moment. Now that I do, I would just like to know if I can run it.

I know that it will work with everything except I'm not sure about my CPU and Graphics Card.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Can I run it, if so, on what graphics?

You can prolly run it just fine. Maybe not on ultra settings, but you should get a decent frame rate on high.
I run a 2.4 gig phenom cpu with a nvidia 9800 with 8gigs of ram and my game runs very smooth on ultra with HD texture mods.

Wait, on second thought, will 4GIGs of RAM be enough?

4 gigs should be enough if you don't run a lot of other stuff, if I understand correctly Skyrim can only use a maximum of 4 gigs anyway.

game won't use 1GB most the time let alone 2GB so yes 4GB is plenty and is still the suggested amount for PCs.

Also I would say around medium give and take. My old 9600 could run Oblivion and Fallout 3 maxed I havn't tried it with Skyrim though.

The main thing Skyrim uses is CPU power, I haven't used Intel in a while so I'm not sure how you're doing there. If your CPU is close to my quad-core at 2.4 gigs then you'll be fine though.

Hmm, I disagree, I never checked it while running but the 4gig patch the included recently was a big improvement over it's usual 2gig limit.

Thanks I was looking for one of those to post. =3

Edit: Funny how I run it on ultra with HD mods at 60 FPS and that site says I'm only halfway to the recommended settings.

Never said it can't use more I said the vanilla game won't use more then 1GB the majority of the time. Now with LOTS of mods yes you can go over 2GB but without any you won't

can I run it is a horrible and inaccurate site so ya I wouldn't be surprised my last rig couldn't even run Crysis let alone BC2 and still I could play both on very high

Ah okay, jumped the gun on that reply I guess. Yeah I was using lots of HD mods so that may be what made the difference so noticeable.
