Can't connect to any servers.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:50 pm

Every time I try to join a freeplay server it brings me to the loading screen, you know, the one where the guy briefs you on what's going on, after a short time it says "press any key to continue" and then after doing so it says: "Waiting on Host" and then after about a minute of loading, the game goes back to the server list menu. I've tried countless times on all sorts of servers, it wont connect to any of them. I've tried starting my own games, but it just says "Joining Session" for eternity.

This is incredibly frustrating, I can't play any multiplayer games because of this. Another strange thing, is that when I try connecting to a server, it seems like the internet on my other devices stops working at that exact time.

Can anyone provide any help? I'd love to be able to play against someone other than these damned bots.

P.s. Is there even a support number for Brink?

Any help? I've already beaten both campaigns and all the challenges, so the game is pretty much useless to me now without the ability to play online.

Haven't heard of this issue before. What kind of internet connection do you have? Have you had any issues with other games? What router are you using (if applicable)?

My PC is connected to a wireless-G Linksys repeater (access point), which is connected to our wireless router at the modem, which is also Linksys. We use Charter high speed.

I haven't had any issues with other games. I've tried opening suggested ports, but it doesn't work.

Do you have an option for upnp in your router configuration, and is it enabled?

Brink Multiplayer Servers Not Responding, Connection Issues and Server Joining Problem
Forward these ports and you will be able to connect to servers just fine.

UDP/TCP 27015, 27016 and 8766

There you go man, try opening those up through the router :D its what i did

The process of forwarding ports is a bit different depending on the make and model of your router. Most router manufacturers (Linksis, D-Link, Netgear, etc.) have places on their websites with information on how to forward ports to your computer.

Note that if your router properly supports UPNP, you likely don't have to specifically forward the ports if you enable UPNP.

Yes UPNP is enabled, I've also tried forwarding those ports mentioned, but it does not work.

It must has something to do with the fact that when I try to connect to a server, it seems to overload the router and kill the internet for a few minutes in my entire house. Plugging directly into the modem isn't an option, and I shouldn't have to do that to play a game anyway.

I'm completely perplexed as to what to do. If I can't get the online portion of the game working I might as well just return it.
