I can't continue the companions with out being a wereworlf..

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:07 am

I'm playing an RPG and I'm playing a role. My character would never want to be a werewolf...so the questline is not followed. That's all. None of my characters want to be one. :tes:

Is it really that much of a chore to have to drop one more witch-head in the fountain and fight another spirit wolf? It takes all of about 2 minutes, if that. Seriously. You'll ignore an entire questline because it lasts 120 seconds longer than you like?

*sigh* Time involved is nothing. That's NOT THE POINT. I do not play weres or vampires. My toons are "me" pretty much, just in another world. So they exemplify MY feelings and values.

I don't rag on you for your choices; why are you nittering at me about mine?

Isn't being a Werewolf just your own little secret? You don't ever have to use it, do you? And wouldn't it come in handy every once in awhile, like drinking potions or changing clothes in mid-battle or summoning a weapon out of thin air?

I have not chosen this path, but researched it for my hubby and it sounds pretty badass. It's just as unreal as a lot of other unreal practices in the game...

I haven't done pretty much any of the guilds (save for the College of Winterhold) for the same RP reasons. Maybe I'll make another character sometime and do a 2nd playthrough. That guy can be the theiving, murdering, wolf-musician.

The point is that to advance and be well respected in the Companions you sort of have to be a member of the Circle. If you're not, then you're just an undistinguished member who will probably never rise to the position of Harbinger. For making certain choices or NOT making certain choices there is that penalty....mediocrity in that faction. Im glad its there actually. And worst case scenario, you become a werewolf, realize you're not meant to be one, and then cure yourself. Nothing or no one forces you to kill as one. Killing the Silver Hand is justified because youre avenging a Companion, and trying to keep them from further attacking Companions...such as Farkas. Theyre also quite brutal in their killings...torture, skinning, etc. I never felt like i was murdering 'good guys'. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but people are also entitled to call an opinion out as crap if they don't agree.

Silver Hand aren't the Good Guys. They are Neutral. Werewolves are also Neutral. Hircine only created Werewolves for hunting, not for murdering people like Vampires and many other things do.. And there is a difference between hunting and murdering. In hunting, the prey always have a chance to escape, and the hunter may or may not kill the prey. In murdering, well... The prey is doomed no matter what unless a Hero kills the Murderer...

As for on-topic. Can't go around it but personally, being a Werewolf ain't bad at all. Only negative effect is no sleep bonuses, really. But I can see why you may not want it, which is prolly rp reasons.
I don't think neutrality fits the bill with werewolves. It's like calling a lion evil for killing a gazelle, or a crocodile evil for stalking a wildebeast. They only kill to survvie, it's a natural instinct that drives them.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion of course. But calling my opinion and playstyle "crap" doesn't earn you any points anywhere. I never at any point addressed the Silver Hand. So I have no clue what you're on about there.

I play this game (and all previous TES games) my way - which has always been the great thing about these games. I find it absolutely outrageous that some people choose to attack me for playing a sandbox game MY WAY. Am I telling YOU how to play? No, I'm not. I'm telling you and everyone else that these games are to be played as one feels they should be.

There are various questlines in this game (and the previous 4) which don't fit the "me" who plays them. NOTHING in the game or the forums requires that I play through questlines that are either uncomfortable for me or simply "not fun" for me, for whatever reason. I'm not sure why some of you think that just because I can afford to pay $150 for a CE of this game (or whatever for any other game), that such means I MUST "experience" every questline in the game.

*baffled*

On topic: I do agree though that Bethesda does force people to play a certain thing. For example, we are forced to be dragonborn. Even if we walk up to a wall, we absorb the power even if we didn't even touch the main quest, so I feel how some people feel in regards to the Companions questline.

Actually I was refering to myself, because I remember once we got into a brief squabble because I was fooling around and I "criticized" your style of play. No way am I calling you a troll. I was just trolling around myself on the other threads. Most people here laugh it off, but I guess you got mad. Beyond upset, even.

No way did I mean to offend. And even if I did call you a troll, it wasn't because you don't do 'weres and vamps'. Heck, I don't even play Elder Scrolls for the main quest as most people do. It's a "Live another life in another world" type thing.

Ah. My apologies. I've had some "issues" with pms and people who ARE serious about me being a troll. I should remember to think before posting. I too am more into the "live another life" thing now.... one dragonborn was QUITE enough thank you.

Again, I'm sorry for flying off the handle on you.

Is that so? Sorry to hear that. Just a random question to make sure you are the same person. Did you have an avatar of an ingame Elf? High elf or dark elf? I think it's you...

And don't worry about it. Not a problem.

Oh, I'm the same me, for sure. Yes, I had avatars of a high elf, early on; as well as a Nord - and maybe even an imperial, can't remember for sure now (my avvies tend to change as I tweak the in-game mods to "fix" stuff like blockiness etc). My screen name isn't the same as from years back though, since I didn't remember the login info and had to start all over with this game.

buckom can verify that I'm the same me for months now....
