can u count?

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 10:07 pm

im pretty tired of the opaque descriptions for things.

disarming bash: theres a 'chance' to disarm opponents with a bash.

whats a 'chance', have they taken simplifying this game to the point of saying we cant count?

aside from the fact that perks dont do what the description says they do (% on block etc.) things need to be clearer. this is supposed to be an rpg (sorta) give me some statistics. taking a perk that says 'theres a chance' is kief...

rant over i guess...

I tend to agree. Some of the descriptions are way too vague. There's a chance, great. If you want me to take it, then tell me how much of a chance. Otherwise, for all I know, I might be wasting a perk.

They're also very inconsistent about it. Some are vague, using words like "chance," while others are very clear, giving actual percentages.

Like with Konahrik. There's a "chance" that a Dragon Priest will be summoned. Sigh.

Any idea what the chances on that thing is, I don't think I have ever had it activate any special effects

Yeah I try to avoid those perks if possible... I wonder if the % chance varies between enemy based on level and item attempting to be disarmed.

Yeah, but with only 80 perks (or maybe it was 81) you can't even choose 1/3 of the perks available. So, if someone is going to spend a perk, they probably want as much information on it as possible.

I can count to potato!

In all seriousness though you make a very valid point, the perks could definitely be more clear in the 'has a chance' department. I believe certain perks are also wrongly displayed like the ones that have a 15% chance actually have 16%.

So, putting down something like 10% makes it too spreadsheety? I guess that makes sense.

Facts in a RPG should be things your character knows
Since the PC isn't omniscient some vagueness in the description of their abilities seems perfectly acceptable to me

Exactly, RPGs are based on numbers.

Exactly, RPGs are based on numbers.

But in a PnP game only the referee will know all the numbers. In the same way in a CRPG there are numbers the computer will be taking account of that the player is not aware of.

Todd has Spoken!
Todd said, "Let Skyrim be the land of bugs! No one shall travel for more than 10 minutes without encountering a bug!" Thus Todd's will was done, and Skyrim became the land of bugs.
