Can't decide on traits

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:48 am

Hey all, I'm just torn between a couple of traits for my stealth/sniper/unoriginal build. I'm considering Kamikaze because I will be using Vats a lot. Good Natured because it's a net gain of 20 points for my build. Small Frame because I'll be agility-ing a lot and Built to Destroy because crits are always nice. Any opinions? Also, I'm looking to max about 7 skills, what starting Int should I have (plus the implant which I will get immediately).

Here are my stats so far:
S. 5 (+1)
P. 5 (+1)
E. ?
C. ?
I. ?
A. 9 (+1)
L. 9 (+1)

All opinions are welcome. Thanks.

Bring Agility down and make Intelligence to 10. Yes I know that is breaking the rule of not making anything 10, but by the time you get to raise your Intelligence to 10, you are just not getting all those points you could have. I still don't know where to go but I know you go to a certian place to get the +1 stat boosts. I only would have a high luck if you want to do good at the casino. In one game I played, I had luck to 1 with no problems but I haven't been to a casino so not shure how bad it would be.

In my next game I have luck to 6 or 7 forgot what it is, so I can have the perks of Mysterious Stranger and Miss Fortune just for LOLs. I loved having the MS perk in Fallout 3 for LOLs so I want it again for NV.

Charisma can be 1. I usually have Endurance 7,8 or 9 for the high health points you get. I play in hardcoe mode so I want to make shure I have lots of health since for me at least, I get wounded alot.

For me, I have 9,1,9,1,10,5.6 or something like that, forget what now. Been too dizzy so I havn't played NV in a few days. I have Perception to 1 since I hate seeing the "red blip" and thinking they are close by so I "sneak" to sneak around them, and the enemy is so far away.

Hope some of this helps you.

Lets see, Small Frame has a negative aspect of it being that one would be crippled alot. That say, it can be overcome with just a few visits from the doctor, keeping a stock piles of Doctor's Bag, and/or it can be nullified with the Adamantium Skeleton perk.

Good Natured is a really good trait if ya planing on using one Offensive Skill, which I assume it Guns for ya.

Built to Destroy, well, unless the weapon itself is unique and repair for it is hard (unless one use Jury Rigging perk), its a decent trait.

Intelligence and Endurence at 9, then run and get the Implants (This takes a lot of Luck, because you can easily die on your way there. Also the money to get the Implants, 4k each I believe.) Charisma can be 1, dump skill. Luck should be 7 or 8, depending on what equipment you use (In addition to the Implant.) Everything else doesn't really matter. I'd say dump everything else in Agility (Max it at 9, cause you can get the Implant.) A certain companion makes Perception rather pointless anyways...

You don't need 10 intelligence.

EDIT: Just saw you wanted to max 7 skills, you might need really high INT for that, don't know. Seems unnecessary.

Thanks everyone. I guess I should be more specific.
In regards to perks (in no specific order):

Weapon Handling
Better Criticals
Finesse
Action Boy 1
Action Boy 2
Math Wrath
Commando
Sniper
Living Anatomy
Friend of the Night
Jury Rigging
Hand Loader
Grim Reaper's Sprint
Nerves of Steel
Educated

Skills I'd like to focus on:

Guns
Speech
Science (for Math Wrath)
Lockpick (can this be substituted for Science like in FO3? That is to say, do they generally accomplish the same goals?)
Repair (for Jury Rigging)
Sneak
Medicine (for Living Anatomy)

Hopefully that'll give you an idea of what I'm going for.

In my playing, high Science have a heck load of dialogue check.

No, there aren't nearly as many doors/safes opened by computer as fallout 3.

If you want the run-of-the-mill-sniper build then Built to Destroy is probably the single best trait for that. It gives a 3% increase to base crit which is a rather large +15% crit chance with the Sniper and Gobi Rifle. The 1st Recon Beret is another +5% and Finesse is another +5% which is 65% crit chance without even factoring in Luck. If you are going to be using Snipers and do decide to take Built to Destroy as a trait you might want to consider lowering your starting Luck as some of it will go to waste.

7 Luck (after implant)
Built to Destroy
Finesse
1st Recon Beret

These are enough to reach 100% crit rate with the Sniper and Gobi Rifle.

So you favor Built to Destroy. How about that paired with Kamikaze? Or would Small Frame be better? Is Living Anatomy worth dumping points onto Medicine?
