I can't even play this on console anymore.

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:05 pm

I quit 360 until the 1.4 patch released so I can continue a Thieve's Guild quest. The whole time, I was just messing on the PC version, modding, etc.

Well after jumping on the 360 version again, it's totally unplayable. Okay, it's playable, but the immersion vanished from the PC version.

It's not the same with Oblivion. I can console that game any day, all day, every day. Bethesda cut out a lot of stuff for Skyrim, though.

The FOV is hurting my eyes. Projectiles don't hit your opponent even when you can see them and they aren't that far away. I've corrected these two issues on PC. I love mods, but I can do without them if I'm playing on the console version.

So why do I continue to play on the 360 version? Well first of all, all around smooth framerate compared to my PC rig. I can't stand the stuttering on PC. But really, the achievements.

Don't judge me.

But really, I'm an archer and it was annoying to go back on 360 and expect my arrow to hit someone I can see clear as day and it didn't. I hope Bethesda will up the range on this on a future patch (hopefully 1.5 yeah right unless you're listening, Bethesda). I think the performance will remain just fine.

#trying to fully enjoy Skyrim since 11-11.

Anyone else jump from platforms like me? Wait, what did I just say? It's-a-me, Dovahkiin.

Hey I told you not to judge me. That's nice. No one cares. I know!

How am I supposed to give an arrow to the knee?

OP is delusional. Ignore.

Oblivion isn't at all playable for me on the console. Without mods it's a flawed fraction of greatness.

Ok...but I have to ask...if you have it and you are playing it on PC...why are you even attempting it on the console?

Maybe moreso flawed than Skyrim, but it was still more accessible. It was fun regardless. And things worked.

Stupid achievements. I'm a completionist. Oblivion was a solid 1250 gamerscore and so are other games I really enjoy. I can't leave Skyrim not the same.

Please. The Vanilla structure is good enough to be a great game. Mods are nothing without it and wouldn't even be made the way they are. Do mods make TES games better? By a long shot. But they don't svck without it.

I didn't say arrows don't work. There's a certain distance away from your character that the mesh of a projectile such as an arrow becomes void in interacting with an NPC. That's the games settings. It's that way for all platforms, but you can change it on PC. You can definitely see your arrow as far as your view distance will allow it, but it will just go straight through an enemy. The enemy will definitely be alerted, but it won't damage the enemy. This happens when enemies are far away. The problem I have is that they're not even too far away in the console version. Try it on far enemies. You'd swear you'd hit them. If they've been alerted, you'd know.

That is true. This was not the case with Oblivion. I had fun donning myself in a 1400' detect Life suit, going out at night and making the little pink dots disappear. I am clearly shooting a Dragon and it does nothing. I can SEE the arrow go through them.

You know where the Ritual Stone is east of Whiterun? Follow down that path where the river is and the tall structure, which I think is Gul's Keep, but I'm probably mistaken. It's the one with the long bridge and bandits with the cooking pot at the base of the entrance. Well, on the opposite side of the bridge is an archer. Try and hit that archer in sneak if you want. You won't be able to damage him/her, but they can to you. It's like why even bother putting the archer there? It was meant for an obvious marskman war if you are an archer.

{edit} that's what killed my immersion. On pc I was sniping enemies from waaaaaaay far away, they almost looked like ants. And it was rewarding because that's what my character was meant to be good at.

I remember being able to kill the archer on the other side of the fort east of whiterun where bandits ask you to pay a toll, more far than that?

yeah ive got nuts on my chin appalogies to posts i sniped/thread i disrailed, riled in other treads bit first asked no questions later either XD ass handed i except defeat not normaly abrasive...game over ect ect lol but point still stands about comments like ive never missed anyone, such nonsense :P
i was hardly that harsh plus when was it clarified i just backed up your issue and picked out a fair nonsense statment designed to discredit op, i still appologise if it was really offensive to all but its commen for people to back track in threads, im not taking credit for understanding how the issue worked i dont play on pc, so saying i know it(sniping) doesnt work but dont understand why, is fair imo, even if its been pointed out by others...why should i take credit for that knowledge, talk about understanding that...

its only if you're shooting at something really far away. its like the arrow disappears before it reaches the target. its close enough so that you can see it but not for an arrow to hit
