Can we get a detailed update already?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:45 am

Come on Beth/Obs you guys already have a set date for a DLC how about a prediction of when the patch will come out. It doesn't even have to be accurate you could say "Hopefully next week" not "Oh, we'll let you know" which you said how long ago? And what do you mean by final touches why don't you update us on everything you do like "Today we just finished the patch tomorrow we are sending it to Microsoft". We don't like being in the dark especially when it comes to spending our hard earned money on something we can't even used.

I've forgot about the thread I was reading in, but Gstaff had posted yesterday in it about finalizing the patch and they will be getting it out soon. Wish I could link the thread.

It won't surprise me if this does get locked, the past few asking already have. But the lack of communication I feel is what is making every member irrate. Having to boot up your computer and this website every morning/afternoon/evening of the week hoping for an update and sadly not receiving one. I'm like "maybe the Monday of a new starting week, maybe the start of the weekend."

I'm never right. :P

EDIT - That link I couldn't find?

Scroll down some posts, you'll see the update I was talking about. Thanks to Gstaff for that subtle yet appeasing information. It'd be a nice idea to put that in the updates IMO. :)

We do understand your frustration. Gstaff posted today about this issue:
The update is still in the final stages for all three platforms.

Sorry, I don't have an exact date on when it will be available -- but when we know, we'll share news and let you know what it covers.

Thanks for your patience.

Before you lock up, is there any possible chance you could link me so I can 'follow' the thread please?

Thanks.

There are other ways to find such however. You may click on the little arrow in the quoted text which will take you to that exact post. You may also click on Gstaff's name to go to his profile and then on "all posts" to see all posts made by Gstaff. He is one of our community managers.

Merci for the reply, and that very helpful pointer. I didn't know about that. :)

This little nugget of information should have been added to the stickied game update thread at the top of the sub-forum page for all to see instead of being buried in this thread.

That actually doesn't sound promising.

"All three platforms" ? The Xbox version is the only one with corruption issues though. This sounds like another patch fixing quest glitches for all three systems. Since the 360 is the only one with save issues does this mean that corrupt saves will still not be addressed?

Except that we have this from before:

As you may have seen, we released a patch over Steam for PC users last night. While we didn’t release a full changelist, the patch contains quest and scripting fixes. It’s not a minor hotfix, it contains over 200 fixes in all. We are in the final stages of testing this update on both 360 and PS3 and we hope to have them out to users very soon.

We are also pleased to say that we have just released a second fix for PC users to address the autosave and quicksave issues that some people were encountering. That particular issue was never seen prior to release and it was extremely difficult to reproduce reliably, even after the game had launched. In order to fix this problem we have had to disable Steam Cloud functionality. It has been turned off, and we won't turn it back on until we're absolutely sure it will not cause any more problems. Please restart your Steam client to make sure you get the update.

We are also working directly with hardware manufacturers to improve performance for certain video cards. This is a driver issue, and not directly related to the game.

On consoles, we are aware that a small group of 360 users are seeing a DLC warning which is preventing you from loading save games. We are absolutely looking into this bug now, along with other reports of save game corruption. It is our highest priority right now that we find out what is causing it. In the meantime, we recommend you save often, and revert to an older save if this occurs.

As far as general memory and instability, you should see an improvement once the patch goes live, but we are continuing to work on this based on user feedback.

We want everyone to know that we are monitoring the forums and cataloging every single issue we see reported. We’re reading forum posts, we’re checking Twitter, and we’re reading Facebook comments. We aren’t able to reply to most threads, but we’re listening. If we see an issue, we have people here trying to reproduce it so we can fix it.

While there are definitely legitimate issues out there, we wanted to take a moment to address a couple of things that have been reported as “bugs.”

The now infamous Doc Mitchell video, while very funny (and horrifying) was not a bug. Unfortunately during our launch day, there was a brief window where Steam was pushing out corrupt or incorrect files. In the event that a user wound up with a corrupt meshes.bsa file, they would get that error. It was easily (and instantly) corrected by simply re-validating your files with Steam. At most, a handful of people ever saw that issue, and even then, only for a moment before fixing it.

We have seen forum posts where people are claiming they are not getting all of their perks. Again, this is not a bug. In Fallout: New Vegas, you receive perks every other level, not every level as you do in Fallout 3.

And finally, a quick tip: Be aware of your faction status before assuming the game is broken. Factions will react very strongly to you based on your current armor. If you’re wearing Powder Ganger or Caesar’s Legion armor, you will be shot on sight by the NCR (and vice versa). Also note that there are groups of renegade Powder Gangers (known simply as “Escaped Convicts”) who will shoot you regardless of your faction status.

Please post any issues you are having to our forums and we’ll do our best to fix them as quickly as possible.

Thanks,

The Fallout: New Vegas Teams at Obsidian and Bethesda

the information about reverting to previous saves is pointless. when the dlc bug hits, it renders all saves (past and present) useless.

should have been a hotfix for this issue alone instead of them saving themselves cash by rolling everything up into one patch which will cost less. as for it being limited to a small group of people - doesnt seem so small to me.

It might help the DLC issue by deleting the DLC and then redownloading it and see if it's fixed. I personally just didn't install the preorder DLC and haven't had any issues with corrupted saves.

Unfortunately that won't help at all, I have no pre-order DLC, I bought it in a shop couple of days after release and I still got the bug after one playthrough, people have mentioned various reasons for the bug; going into any of the vaults, when NPC's and critters fall through the ground on death, my current playthrough, avoiding vaults is at about 80 hours, with the only glitches being one quest and rocks that don't quite meet the ground, although I did have to read up on some things to avoid them, such as Raul's personal quest, yay for roleplaying via Fallout wiki........

The DLC bug is only related to DLC in that the bug causes the system to look for something that isn't there, which is coded as DLC.

As you never installed the pre-order DLC, may I ask did you accept the first, and so far only update?.

Glad I read this, thank you Rumtruffle, I was about to start the Vaults again which seems to cause the bug for me, however now I'll just keep waiting until they decide to do something. I find the lack of information beyond "forthcoming weeks", "soon" and "we'll let you know" these are purely subjective and ambiguous terms which could mean the patch is till a very long way off. This is quite poor, not exactly professional standard customer relations.

the missing DLC bug is NOT only affecting people who got the pre-order bonuses. I didn't have it (order got screwed up so i just recently got the code) when I got slammed by the missing DLC.

I never used my pre-order codes. I got the the DLC warning whenever I deleted the 1st patch, but it didn't stop me from loading my most recent save. I would just click 'yes' and it would load until after I did the Bounty-hunter quest and later tried to re-enter the strip without the 'old cowboy hat' on.

I was able to go back several saves, buy the afore-mentioned hat and then enter the strip. But OMG what a huge pain to have to go through all this and continually baby the game and hope and pray it doesn't just finally blow-up my Xbox with all these insane problems and crashes.
