Can't Hack Computers.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:20 pm

Used search and got an error so not sure if this bug has been reported and I apologize if it has. For computers that you need to hack to access the screen doesn't show up. You can hear the keyboard clacking and other sound effects but the screen doesn't show up making them impossible to hack.

I have this same problem but even worse. When I tried doing that quest where the scientist guy asks me to find the virus in the computer system in the Brotherhood of Steel place in the Hidden Valley, the computers started glitching and now won't stop. It started out as you have described it but now when I try to hack a computer, a frozen picture of a computer screen that is all blurred out appears AND the same picture appears when I try to pick a lock so I can't even see what I'm doing. So now I can't hack computers OR pick locks. :/

I had the exact same problem with the computers, but i found a way to get it working.
First I deleted all my saves (14hrs of gameplay) and the installed part of the game from the PS3's drive and reinstalled. That did not help at all, so don't do that.
Then, after seeing a video on Youtube where a guy playing on a PC with a X-box 360 controller had a similar problem, where he was unable to hack using the 360 controller
but when he switched to mouse and keyboard it worked perfectly, I decided to give it another try.
I had, when I first played, changed the button layout on the PS3 controller. That turned out to be the problem( well, [censored] programing and no gametesting is the real probem).
When I leave the button layout as default the hacking workes, when I change the layout it does not work.
So now its time to replay the first 14hrs with buttons as default at least when i need to hack.
Hope this helps.

i have the hacking problem on desktop terminals and not wall mounted terminals, but i did change the button layout at the beginning, like i do with every game that gives you the option too. so if i change the buttons to default, do i have to start from the beginning?

The one time that happened to me, I quit out of the game to the desktop and went back in and it was working again.

well as sno3man suggested i tried chaning the buttons to default.......and ........WOOOOOT ur freakn' awsome   i don't know you but i'm in love thank you so much, and all i had to do was delete the button config file within the save file folder and left it alone and it worked on my already restarted for like the 6th time game and it worked. so at least i don't have to restart yet again :banghead: :banghead: i can start loving fallout again :fallout: but then again now i'll prolly start experiencing all the other glitches that everyone has mentioned
