Can I has beartraps please?

In addition to more "traps", improvised or bought. DLC.

Deployable beartraps, in that you can emplace them, and they cripple the leg of your enemy, without alerting the world via HE detonation

Frag grenade + tin can + some string + a railway spike = trip grenade. Less powerful than other mines, but cheaper

Claymore type directional mine. Very powerful, but only in a certain arc

Dynamite + tin can + scrap metal = improvised frag grenade. Cheaper

Though "just" a deployable beartrap would more than suffice.

Thoughts?

That would be cool. I was hoping the survival skill could open up trap making.
It should work that the higher the survival skill (and maybe repair) the better traps you can make.
Some could be silent like your bear traps that cripple the legs, and you could also have grendade trip wires, and mine everyday objects like baby carriges, like the did in F3.

I would love to see survival-based traps that were a little less high-tech than a prewar mine.

Snares, tripwires, springy saplings lashed down to a slip-knot with a knife tied to the branch.

Crafting is seriously lacking in FO:NV, I predict a whole slew of mods that fix this, and an enhanced traps mod would be seriously amazing.

Yeah, great idea. But like most DLC the fans suggest, it'll probably never happen.

Can't begin to count the minutes I spent ranting that FO3 needed car/dune-buggy/something like in FO2.
Honestly if I had a car I would never fast travel again.....

But thats what the mod community is for.

Sadly explosions can't ever be directional. Engine problem.

I could think of a few places I'd love to set up punji pits, simple, brutal, and satisfying....

Bear traps sound great; and sound like they could be derived from the landmine weapon... but a bear trap would also require a release animation for each creature with hands and enough sense to escape.

(This could maybe just be a kneel, and the trap pops open...)

You totally should has beartraps.

Now that ya mention it, with the explosives and survival skills plus the ammo crafting AND the fact that you find those kinds of traps in the world; I’m actually surprised that you can’t make some sort of explosive trap.

I’m sure they thought of it.
