Well, do you expect to get the creation kit for consoles? That would be kinda tough with the xbox and ps3 controller. It's really something that you would probably want to do on a computer anyways, and then if possible push out to your xbox or ps3.

I understand your frustration, even though I play on PC, if I played on xbox I would feel hosed, but then again, I wouldn't want a watered down version of it geared for the xbox controller. I don't really know though, perhaps it would be as simple as hooking a keyboard and a mouse up to your game console, but I don't know how any of that would work. I'm not a tech guy.

And as for the not-so-subtle dig at PC people living in their parents basemant... Some of us PC people work hard for our money.

As a PC gamer, I'd love for the console players to have some kind of CK. It'd just mean more mods for everyone. And if it were up to Bethesda, it sounds like you guys would have one. Unfortunately, it's up to MS and Sony, who don't want it to happen right now for various reasons.

This is payback for Skyrim being a console port and having a console UI.

Wansnt trying to talk bad about pc players to each there own....Just most people answer questions like these say should have or go out and buy a pc....Any way if xbox and ps3 players cant get the kit it would be cool if we were giving some iteams for only Console players.

Kind of silly to expect to do modding on a console, it's a closed system with a closed operating system running it.
I guess they could offer some simple creation tool where you could make your own house or something, but the mods most people do for TES wouldn't be possible on a console.

That's a Sony or Microsoft problem. If they'd allow a mod workshop, Bethesda would provide it.

Yeah, that's not inflammatory or anything.

I don't live with my 'rents. In fact I own a house and I spent a months or two building a new computer.

You could have easily just done the same thing instead if buying a console. In fact, I don't feel bad for you at all. I bet you are going to feel even more left out when the Xbox gets tge first DLC exclusive too. What kind of insult are you going to throw towards the 360 crowd?

I feel like I've got the most of Skyrim that they could give us poor console owners...

Unfortunate fact of the matter is that player mods are not allowed on Sony and MS digital distribution.

Note that this is VERY different from the editors in games like Halo, or Little Big Planet... which do have player content editors and sharing, BUT are restrictive in their nature about what they allow the designer to do.

There are mods made for TES games that *intentionally* cause harm to systems, and that's the big reason MS & Sony won't allow it.

Additionally, the CK in of itself simply can't run on console... it's a true blue developing console... you NEED a mouse and keyboard.

The only potential possibility is if Bethesda was to take a select few popular player mods, went through LINE BY LINE to ensure that nothing will cause any problems and making sure they can pass certification, bundling them up as a single package (They get limits on # of patches and DLC they can provide) with a new interface to toggle the various mods on and off (and every potential combination would need to pass certification) and then pass the package through Sony and MS certification teams in order to get us just a small sampling of the mods PC players get...

and then... which ones would they include?

overall... it's a restriction of the platform we chose to play on, and we have to live it with for better or worse.

Well, it does cut both ways...Skyrim is an example of a game where possible enhancements and additions for a PC gamer were possible, but were not included because of the cross platform issue.

Skyrim could have included a far larger hotkey selection, considering the number of unused keys on a keyboard or gamepad, and it could have included hotkey profiling, where a player could have several sets of hotkeys...perhaps that could be possible with console controllers, but knowing microsoft and sony's reticence to move forward I doubt it. Keep in mind that the basics for both Xbox and PS3 are over decade old, that's about 3 or 4 generations of PC.

However, I recently got myself a new game controller, which included both 360 and keyboard emulation modes, and trying Skryim in 360 mode was an absolute svck...I don't know how the Xbox players do it, and I truly sympathise with you....a controller in keyboard emulation mode is the way to play this game if you aren't comfortable with gamepad or keyboard.

Can't help but notice you're inferring that people only have nice PCs because they live with their parents. Just because you're frustrated that consoles don't have modding doesn't mean you need to insult people like that. Back on point, as everyone else said, it's up to MS and Sony for that. I play on PS3 but I expect nothing more from Beth than a port because it was a game originally designed for PC.

The Construction Kit is a very, very, very complicated tool. It is NOT Forge from Halo:Reach. It REQUIRES much more powerful hardware than the current crop of game consoles can afford, and even if they could afford it, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to navigate the CK's GUI without a mouse and keyboard.

Also why do you feel punished? Its not like they are restricting you from the game, it's just a bonus. Thats like saying you're mad because Billy chose a better toy than you. One more thing, proper gaming laptops and pcs are not that expensive.

I could as easily state that because Skyrim was developed on the 360 and ported to PC that PC players have been "punished" by receiving a low-polygon, low-resolution game.

This thread is ridiculous. I hope it's an attempt at trolling.

i think most console users know full and well what mods are and that they can't use them. i don't feel left out at all, because mods are a PC thing, i'm not playing on a pc...why would i feel left out? that's like choosing to go to college to be a dentist and then saying 'man i feel left out, i can't do brain surgery.' it doesn't make sense.

I work, so I can afford a PC. Not everyone that owns a PC lives with their parents, just saying.

Also, I'd like to point out that its because of consoles that these things were held back in the first place... Just saying.

So I don't feel sorry for you at all.

I'm a session musician who also deals (privately) in vintage guitars. You don't know [censored] kiddo.

What you're really saying is you can't afford one. Flip them burgers faster and you might get a raise.

So anyone who owns a pc must live with their mum and dad now? pathetic.

What do you want Bethesda to do? they want the mods on the consoles but Microsoft and Sony will not allow it. Nothing more they can do really. Maybe they will take the best mods and package them into a DLC one day, who knows.

That said, at least the 360 gets DLC a month before the rest of us.

The one major problem is the consoles outdated tech,if they had ram slots and adequate cooling and power supply people could upgrade as they go,it would'nt be a pc more like a ponsole.those three cores are old but they're still pushing as best as they can, knowing MS and sony they will push for total online and all you get for your money is a link on a cd,they will probaly cite mass piracy and have the american goverment pay millions in huge FBI investigations and arrest a few really fat millionaires just to save a few more years of having to develop a new machine.

You expecting modding tools on a console? I seriously hope this is a joke.

Skyrim has pretty low system requirements, by the way. It doesn't require an expensive PC.
