Can No Longer FAST Travel ... Help !

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 8:35 pm

Steam installed the new HD pack , some items were purple ..

So I had a look through the post and found one that said had a fix to put hd pack back to the way it was ...

Said to replace this ...

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa
sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Voicesixtra.bsa

with

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa
sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Voicesixtra.bsa

And indeed this did sort out the Purple textures with some tunics shields and wall hangins..

But now when I try Fast Travel , I click on the place I want to go .... I get a load screen (usual piece from the game) but after a while the load screen goes and I am back to DT.

Anyone esle had this FT problem after changing the text in the INI file ?

Thanks

First thing, try waiting in place for 73 game hours, then try to Fast Travel.

Second thing, archive your current INI and Prefs files and let the game create new ones, see what happens

Third thing, try the game with no other mods selected but the DLC Textures

Fourth thing, rather, First First thing Validate your local files in Steam for the game.

Are you playing on a 32-bit OS or have less than 4GB RAM? If so, I'd not use the HD texture packs.

Other than two missing textures, they work just fine on my machine running XP32

I had this same problem after installing the HD textures. I resolved it by selecting the "Data Files" option on the splash screen and deselecting the two HD texture files in the list. My computer is pretty old and I figured that I was running out of RAM and crashing when trying to fast travel. Making this quick change launches Skyrim in the vanilla configuration and fixes the issue for me.

You do realize that that proves nothing, right?

Thanks guys I will give this a go ...

Ok will try the other things later need to hit my pit , I did the deselect on the Data Files for the 2 HD files , game starts I'm in solitude and all is fine but when I went to use FT again I get the load screen you get doing this and then back out to DT.

I will try the other suggestions later.

Again many thanks.

running 32 , the INI fix I used does work , no more purple items not that there were that many in the first place but the INI fix change did work but something about it ??? now means my Fast Travel is screwed up.

Fast Travel working again , I put the new HD text back into the INI over writing the default and with the 2 boxes unticked in the Data files, this seems to have done the trick.

You do realise that deselecting the 2 boxs in data files is actually disabling the HD texture pack don't you?
