Can Mods Make It In Consoles?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:09 pm

With the news of dragon bone weapons making it to Dawnguard, will we see more selected mods/ mod ideas arriving in the future? I would LOVE to see the lore-friendly armor mods for DLC or updates. I wouldn't care if I have to pay!

There not actually using the Dragonbone weapons mod. It's gonna be the original design of Bethesda. And if Beth used other peoples mods they could be sued.

Keep in mind they've been trying to get mods on consoles since before Skyrim was released. We may never see it. Or hell it could be next month or on the next gen consoles. Microsoft and Sony don't want user made hardware on their systems.

Never even if you can get M$ and $ony to say yes (which is a miracle on it's own) there will be a huge list of compatibility and other major issues.

That's not true, by creating mods you automatically give the rights to BS, it's in the TOS.

Whenever consoles update Bethesda knows whats in your Skyrim file. You can only do it if your Xbox isn't connected to the internet.

They do have ways to detect that sort of thing. Anyway this isn't allowed to be discussed here, so please don't before you get this thread locked.

They could be not sued,as you give up all the rights to your creation to Beth when creating content within the creation kit.

They can be sued. The case just wouldn't make it to court.

These topics sure are popular all the sudden. o.O

Everyone hopes to see mods on the consoles, but Beth and Microsoft don't see eye to eye. Consoles are 6 year old technology that developers have to invent new technologies to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of them. Maybe with the next gen consoles we can see some mods, but thats still doubtful IMO.

On another note, I'd like to see PC exclusive content the way the 360 gets.

Performance of the console has very little to do with it actually.

True, they actually said that mods made on the PC with the creation kit worked fine on Xbox360.Mods could be made on PC and portet to xbox/ps3.Beth did it already but there are other problems with Microsoft and Sony not allowing it.

Maybe Bethesda could do something like have a contest where the top 10 mods get made as official DLC for consoles. Maybe have some prize money involved if Beth can reach the one(s) who created said awesome mods.

Mainly it has to do with MS/Sony being closed platforms, and the possible issue of a console user trying to use a mod that does to much that could max out the system. It is possible but most of your mods will work on console with little issue.
