whats the most important, youd think magic cuz you actualy need a certain amount of magic for spells, i dont wanna lock myself out of spells, so even know im playing mainly melee character im still putting points into magic and stamina mostly with a bit for health here and there, i figure ive allways got health and stamina potions, but with magica you need a certain amount to cast some spells dont you? and i do want to do a bit of conjuration

I'm a melee type too. I level up health and stamina to 200 before I start with the magic. I only use it for healing at first so I don't need much. YOu can worry about magic later when you can survive the tougher fights.

For magic/melee hybrid characters I tend to take health and magica the first few levels, until I have about 200 of each. Then I start to spread it out more.

Unless you're looking for extra challenge, health first and foremost. My general rule is magicka + stamina <= health. But you can't go wrong by making it even more lopsided that that. Look at it this way: Adding health is like increasing armor rating (irrespective of any caps) and all resistances--elemental, magic and poison. Doubling health doubles your survivability to any form of attack--your health bar will deplete at half the rate it otherwise would while taking damage. This should be obvious, but I'm going to spell it out just in case.

After that, it depends on what kind of character you're building. More magicka is needed for mages. Higher-level spells eat the stuff up in a hurry. Stamina helps warriors, but it isn't strictly necessary. So I would always favor magicka over stamina unless you're going to ignore magic altogether.

My current numbers for my altmer, including augments, are Magicka 300, Health 475, Stamina 150. (Without the time-limited blessing of Arkay, Health 450.)

Its simple. A higher level (apprentice, master, etc) in a magic school the cheaper those spells will be; so, that means that you dont need to put your points into magicka alone. That said, a higher armor rating in a particular type of armor improved with a high smithing skill will compensate for a more regular health point distribution so you dont have to put so many points into that either.

What that leaves you with is this rule: if you favour a warrior you need to put points into stamina; a mage needs points in health and magicka; a thief needs points in a more balanced fashion to be effective because he/she can rely on magic as well as being vulnerable to attack and needing stamina to pull of power attacks.

If you're playing on Master, getting Health to 200 should be your fist goal, since if you don't have it at least to that point, most of the matched level enemies will start one-shotting you.

By the time you have 200 health naturally (Lvl 11), you should be able to find and make enough health enchantments to keep yourself at or above the "One shot curve", so at this point, you can work on Magicka of stamina. Which one depends totally on the type of character you play. If you cast any spells, magicka should outpace Stamina. Stamina itself is fairly "Useless", not because it has no use, but with food (Particularly beef stew), you can more-or-less have unlimited stamina. The one exception you may find, is if you use ultra-heavy weapons (Warhammers in particular), which may outpace the stamina regen given by foods, driving you low enough to be forced to wait. Its supposedly gives "Unlimited" in a literal sense, but I found myself going below 0 and having 2-3 second delays before I had positive stamina again with ultra-heavy weapons.

depends on difficulty level. on master you need health only at the beginning.

adding magicka is completely dependent on how your going to reduce spell cost and increase total magicka.

you can make spell cost irrelevant through the normal game mechanics, ie. no exploitation.

you basically need to decide what your personal rules of gameplay are going to be and plan out your pc accordingly.

I suggest you invest 4 into Health, 4 into Magicka, and 2 into Stamina
