I don't think it defaults to low spec for no reason...

After a bit of digging in Google about Radeon 3600 series of cards, I found they come at 512MB or 1GB. You might want to check again your card's actual memory...

As for the invisible fire issue, you should propably upgrade your Catalyst Drivers and install the latest DirectX redistributable (June 2010) from Microsoft. Can't think of anything else about it.

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8109

Download and extract it to any folder of your choice (a new folder), then head inside and run DXSetup.exe

Basically it should get those fires up and running. Who knows, you might be able to squeeze some extra bells and whistles out of the game. I hope for the best m8

I have the same problem and i think is a maybe a bug from catalyst software or game bug, the only solution i found so far is using the "ENB series" and you wild see fire and beam efects now.

PD: Hope They fix this problem in the next updates....

You didn't say that one in the beginning... Can you see frost or shock spell particles?

Bad performance when cranking the settings up, propably makes sense, if your HD3650 has only 512MB on it.

I think the videocard is more likely the cuprit altogerther, as 120 shaders on a radeon card just isn't going to cut it at anything but low settings. Only lowering the resolution might give you a bit extra performance..

The amount of video memory is pretty much ok. My Radeon also "only" has 512MB and everything runs at 40+ fps at high settings.
2GB and the CPU also are enough for a decent game experience, just do like me, and get a usuable graphics card off ebay for about 20 bucks and have fun.

40+ on high settings, means you've got grass disabled, all distance sliders at 30-40% (or maybe less) and propably shadows off as well. Otherwise, the VRAM requirement would eventually reach 750-800MB and every now and then, you'd be counting frames, instead of playing.

A RAM of 2GB is enough on a machine with WinXP installed, where the OS loads just 128MB. On Win7 or even worse, WinVista, OS requirements go much higher. This, besides the basic background applications, like audio/graphics drivers and virus scanner. When the user takes a barebone system environment like this and starts loading his/her own applications on, 2GB is simply, not enough.

Apart from this, we're all making unnecessary guesswork on the OP's actual system specifications. Elric, please post a Dxdiag report (make sure you put it in a spoiler tag)

GPU is way under spec to handle the game regardless of what you may think. Even if it does run it will always be a terrible experience I would recommend waiting until you have a newer PC to play it on. Your card doesn't have 2GB VRAM at all.
