Can old ES scripting still be used?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:59 pm

I know that Skyrim uses Papyrus, instead of whatever it is they called the old scripting language...Is it still possible to use the old scripting language, though? I don't have the faintest idea how to use Papyrus and I don't have time to learn, but there are some things I would like to script. The console still recognizes at least some of the commands from Morrowind/Oblivion. Is there any way I can use them in the CK itself?

No, it cannot.

The only remainder of ObScript is in the console, and even then the console and Papyrus can't talk to each other.

The conditions for things like magic effects also use the old language, which has finally be named "Legacy" according to the wiki. You can't write scripts in it though - if you want to script in Skyrim it's Papyrus or nothing.

Well, thank you for your input. I don't have the time or drive to learn Papyrus, so I guess that's the end of my mod.

If you know old ObScript, it's not too bad. Took me a few hours to get used to the syntax, and a couple of days to really get into it, but it makes a lot more sense once you get your head round it.
