Can we PLEASE geat an update to fix texture streaming

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:27 am

This game is a lot of fun and very unique, but the graphics are just killing it for me. The texture pop-in is horrible and extremely annoying. I hope they can get this resolved soon, because in its current state, it looks nothing like the "attract movie" in the dossier. It's a blurry mess unfortunately. :(

I have never cared much about graphics, but this blurriness is killing my eyes. I don't understand how they could release the game with their textures this jacked up. It's inexcusable really. I have played a lot of crappy 360/PS3 games, but not one has ever looked this bad.

I know what you mean. It almost gives me a headache to play for more then an hour. I've never seen a game on the 360, other than that budget paintball game, that has had this blurry of textures.

You're lucky then. I've been on a few other forums and there's a lot of people having these same issues with the textures.

It really does seem like something is wrong with the graphics. From the videos I had seen it looks beautiful, but when I play it on my xbox, the textures are low resolution, aliasing everywhere, constant pop-ins.... This can't be how it's supposed to look... can it?

That's funny because I tried the same thing yesterday. I'm running my X360 with VGA on a 40" Samsung at 1080p and it looks really bad. I even tried using the component cables and switching between 720p and 1080i. Still looks bad anyway I change it.

The issue isn't related to what tv your using, its an issue that they new about Pre launch that they thought they would just fix with a patch. Needless to say the patch failed for the vast majority of people.

I'd at least like to have it acknowledged that there is a problem with this...

Did you adjust the brightness using the in-game settings?

I'm working on some videos and pictures but trying to make sure the quality is good enough that you can see what I'm going through. My friend is telling me his looks spot on compared to the videos they put up of brink pre-release.

my 360 version looks great on the 'character custom' screen and terrible in game - other than rendered cutscenes

I'm not really noticing any of the terrible graphics or blurring people are talking about. Textures load rate I've noticed, but the game itself has looked fairly good to me.

Now, if we're talking about other problems, like online play.......

None of the environments that you can interact with are smooth at all. Everything's edges are jagged and dark and muddy. I did change the brightness so it's brighter but that didn't improve the texture/smoothness of things. it just made the colors pop a little more which was a nice improvement. I'm putting this down to, the videos we were shown by the developers etc were from a top notch pc with everything maxed out. Because what they showed me I was getting, is not what I have. False Advertisemant lawsuit may be coming from me or somebody else. if those were PC shots they should have specified.

I think what you are seeing is a placebo effect(IE: perception). Loading times may be slightly improved, but overall there is no change from disc/HDD read in terms of general gameplay effectiveness.

Did it multiple times and tested it out. Loading times are improved. And texture loading is slightly improved but not enough. I don't expect any new release nowadays to have an issue with texture loading. Well, unless it's a Bethesda product. Had similar issues in both Fallout games.

Finally. This cannot be the xbox hardware. People say that it's outdated etc..but that would mean almost every new release would have complaints about graphics. Yet, this is the first game in years that I have picked up and said, oh my gosh these graphics are so bad I can't play the game. I'm not even that picky. The graphics are original xbox quality for me. Not right.

At one point I think developers were developing with the Xbox 360 as the targeted system. With it's 5 year old hardware many devs have mentioned that they are now developing for the higher end and compiling 'down' for the Xbox. Like you have said, other games have better looking graphics but perhaps with the smart movement and the other items they could not put as much available resource to graphic rendering.

Does anyone else wish they gave us the sordid technical details instead of passifying statements like, "We love multiplayer toooooooooooo!"

I like what you have to say Thresher. I'm very relieved I only gamefly'd this game at this point. Gives me time to feel things out before deciding if it's worth my money or not.
