Who said that viruses were supposed to make sense? "WARNING! YOU HAVE BEEN INFECTED BY INTERNET EXPLORER! CLICK HERE TO REMOVE IT FOREVER!"

My case might be a rare exception, but I think getting 8gigs of ram over 4 is a wise decision. At any given moment I have Chrome open with at least 15 tabs open, Winamp open and playing music, I usually leave my Eve Online client open all the time, even when playing other games or watching movies and whatnot. Plus I always have the last.fm app, steam, rainmeter and antivirus software running all the time. All that right there is over 4gigs of ram. I hate having to close things so I can open other things.

I don't really think that spending more money just so that you can run your antivirus at all times is a valid excuse. It isn't even a good idea to run your AV program while doing other things anyway.

I guess they already know they're not going to fool people who know anything about computers.

I just have it on all the time in the background. Doesn't mean its scanning constantly. It does a complete scan once a week. And yes it is a good idea to have it on in the background at all times, especially when surfing the internet. It actively blocks any kind of incoming attack....Besides which it hardly takes up any resources.

Oh, well having it just up in the background is what most people do. It hardly takes up in memory that way anyway. I thought that you had it doing an active scan at all times. That would not be smart.

However, I still see no need for 8 Gig. You want to free up some memory, close a few programs. I see no reason to spend extra money when you can simply click the little red X.

I agree 4 GB for most people is plenty.

You'd be better of spending the extra money on a slightly better graphic card if anything

I have 8 gigs of RAM...It's pretty useless :sadvaultboy:

If you're just into gaming it's not worth it. As far as the i5, that's fine too.

Someone came and asked me to look at their PC saying they think they might have a virus. That is what popped up.

It's not a real antivirus, and it's probably not an American made virus. :whisper:
