I'm sure that only certain words have been translated from English into dragon language, I may be wrong though...

I'm not sure. I found this, but I don't know if it really answers your question. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dragon_Language

Apparently the grammar is more or less the same as English, so it should be possible. Apparently it doesn't have tenses, like Indonesian.

Pg. 645 of the Official Strategy Guide has info on the language with a multitude of translations.

You won't be able to say much. The vocabulary is very limited. And you'd probably go hoarse anyway.

Our current understanding of the Dragon lexicon is too basic to put their language to use in any practical social setting, unfortunately.

On top of that, there's no true type font for the Dragon character set, so everything you wrote would be a horrible mess of traditional English characters.

Uuugh ... because this isn't a real language?! This isn't reality! You can do nothing with it. If I would be his father, I would beat the [censored] out of him for being THAT stupit!! :banghead:
You're playing a fantasy game that contains dragons. That's not reality. You watch Hollywood films, they're not reality.
You're the one that's being stupid, and that would just make you a bad father.

There are people that are fluent in Klingon or Elvish, how is this any different?

Marshall Banana, there are better ways of teaching your children than through physical abuse. And if you use the language then it becomes a real language. People all over the world have learned the languages of Klingon, or Elvish, and others. When those languages are used they become real spoken languages. You're probably not going to be asked to "press 2 for Dragon language" the next time you call Bank of America but if the dude wants to learn Dragon language then who the F cares. It's certainly no reason to get all huffy and call him names and say that you'd beat him if he was your child.

You could learn it, But you'd have to type the english translation, Not the actual draconic runes.

P.S Im aware its never explicity reffered to as draconic, But saying "Dragon language" just sounds silly.

He is playing a fantasy game that has a huge store of background to it. It is nothing like a movie.

Your stupidity is exposed by your lack of knowlege of the lore There is in fact Dragon languague with a fairly large vocabulary, he could learn and use it if he wanted to.

Excuse me?

I'm saying he can use it. You've made yourself look stupid by not reading the context of what I've written. I'm defending the OP.

Assuming you are talking about this:

"You're playing a fantasy game that contains dragons. That's not reality. You watch Hollywood films, they're not reality.
You're the one that's being stupid, and that would just make you a bad father."

It is not at all clear that you are doing anything other than insulting him.

I had a go at the guy that said it was stupid that the OP wanted to learn dragon language because it's "fantasy", and that he would "beat him" if he was his father.

I wasn't having a go at the OP. I'm fully aware of the lore of TES series.

Probably not, I'm sorry. It's not extensive enough.
But there's always Klingon, Quenya and Sindarin.

Edit: Ninja'd, but the last guy said Elfish.
Edit: Saruman guya above, that's Sindarin. Wood Elven.

You'll also be using ambient music and delay effect in your background whenever you speak? :) I'd rather go for a historical language if I were you. Don't they say Finnish resembles Elven?

Dragon language... Nowhere near enough vocabulary to speak it. I wouldn't be surprised if some fan developed some to it at some stage, though. At the moment, it seems to be missing many functional words (particles, pronomins...) especially; they have a few content words though (substantives, adjectives, verbs...). But as far as I know of, we don't really know a thing about its grammar.
