Are you sure that the alias is filling? Sounds like it didn't fill or something so the CK isn't sure what name to display.

I'm not sure if it is, is there a way to check? Aren't all the matching conditions that I have set correct?

I'm not sure about that, I've never set up a dynamic alias, but you can check by going ingame and entering 'SQV MyQuest' into the console. It will list all your aliases and if they've filled.

When I did that it only showed the Quest stage I was on, the priority, if it was enabled, and if it was running.

It did list the aliases right above all those things? It should? Did it say 0 Aliases? Post a screenshot of the results of that command, it should show you the alias info, whether they're filling or not.

How big is your screen? It looks REALLY small, and since the console is a percentage of the screen, it may be blocking the first few lines of that output... Does anyone know how to output the console into a log so he can read the full thing?

It was running in window mode, at 1024x640. I'll run it at 1080p now and see if it changes.

You can use the PageUp/Down keys to scroll the console.

If your aliases aren't filling, based on your screenshot, make sure you are defining the Location alias above the Innkeeper alias.

Edit: also, I recall some concerns about http://www.creationkit.com/GetInFaction working (see notes)--try GetFactionRank >= 0 instead.

Hmm, so they're all filling. I'm not sure then. Someone with more experience setting up dynamic aliases will have to help. :(

Try checking the "Stores Text" checkbox on the Innkeeper alias.

Check 'Uses Stored Text', instead.

From the wiki: Uses Stored Text: Check this if the alias requires text replacement (for example, a book with text replacement tags, or an alias which uses text replacement in an alternate Display Name,

Tried that, still nothing.

This is frustrating, because I can see in-game with the "SQV" command that it is filling Innkeeper with the correct actor, but it just doesn't display it in the quest log. Only [...]

Have you looked at the Beth aliases that do this? Find one where they reference an alias, then look at how that alias is set up.

This is an alias already set up by Bethesda, it is the quest BQ01, in the bounty section.

All I did was add into a quest objective.

I can do , , and the rest of the aliases in the quest, but not Innkeeper.

Weird... Look at the Jarl Alias and see if it has anything else checked. You may not be able to reference the Innkeeper alias without altering it to match.

Is the Innkeeper ever referenced in text like this in the vanilla game? If not, then it may not be set up to do so.

Okay, I just decided to make my own alias, but it isn't being filled at all now, even when using unique actor.

Here is a screenshot of my alias.

Well, I was just curious, so I tried to change the objective text of the BQ03 quest like this:
"Kill the giant located at , Innkeeper is ."
I also checked the "Stores Text" box of the Innkeeper Alias. (You need the "Uses Stored Text" option only if you want to replace the name of the Alias Reference with a text within a message. This is a nice way if you want to change, for example, the name of "Hunting Bow" to "Faendal's Bow")
Anyway, my changes worked fine, the objective was shown including the name of the innkeeper. So I don't understand why it shouldn't work for you. Are you sure that you tried everything from a clean save?
As for the new alias you mentioned, I suggest that you check the "Allow Reserved" box. When an alias is reserved by another quest it won't get filled.
