can you stop a fight in new vegas?

i can't remember if it was an option in FO3 but in oblivion if you accidently hit someone or started a fight with a friend you could hold the block button and try to initiate dialouge with them and it would ask them to yeild

wether or not they did was based on their disposition to your character, and it would give you a message at the top of the screen if they denied your request

tried it last night to no avail, but wasn't sure if it was just cause the guys were really angry?

You couldn't do that at all in Fallout 3 unless you were somehow able to do some speech option or challenge and so far, from my trying it out, you can't do it in New Vegas either.

I wish we could do that, though. Like have the 'yield' option or something. Would add more to it and make the game even funner, but I think it's fine without it too.

I do wish we had Oblivion's bribery system though, ha ha ha ha ha!

it works differently in FO3. Instead of trying to talk to them while holding the block button you just need to holster your weapon. I assume it works the same in New Vegas.

cool i'll have to try that if a situation comes up again

and yea bribing was awesome

and so was taunting in morrowind! wanna kill someone without getting in trouble? call them names until they attack you, then it was clearly self defense! i used that constantly haha brilliant

Yeah and if taunting failed too often, you could always bribe them with several thousand golds to make them happy and try again. If you kill them after succesful taunting you can take your money back! :D

I haven't got yielding to work in New Vegas, rex attacked a bunch of NCR troopers, and yield wouldn't stop them from attacking

I used the age-old method of running away and waiting 3 days and that took my aggressor out of his attack mode. I accidentally walked into the gas station where that guy was hiding out and I had forgotten to change out of Powder Ganger armor first.

If you holster your weapon, there's a chance someone will forgive you.

Either an NPC told me that or I read it on one of those loading screen tips. Possibly read it in the manual. Definitely saw it somewhere directly related to the game, though, so it wasn't just a "some guy told me".
