can you be in the dawngard and still be a vamp?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:51 pm

the character i'm currently rping is a vampire, but he doesn't want to block out the sun because he thinks it's an evil thing to do, he only ever feeds on people that deserve it (bandits thalmor etc..) can i play the dawnguard side as a vampire?

Well my guess is that nobody outside of the beta knows, and those inside are not allowed to tell so you probably won't know 'til the DLC comes out.

Spoiler
Someone mentioned at some point that you can join the vampires and not block out the sun. Not sure how true it is though. Also can't really say if being in the dawnguard as a vampire is possible, could be.

Knowing TES games...yeah I'd say you can. Just a guess...let's wait and see.

i'd actually say the opposite. Elder scrolls choices in quests lines are always black and white. Maybe not how to do them, but the end result.

It would be sorta silly if you could but I guess some people enjoy silly'ness like the paragon of the Vampires species a Vampire Lord being a Vampire Hunter.

Makes sorta no sense though I'm sure someone'll come up with an elaborate backstory as to why their character one of the top Vampires in existence merely due to him being a Vampire Lord turns on his race to kill them all.

i think the OP mean the vanilla Vampires , not the vampire lords. I think giving a dawnguard the Vamp Lord power would be dumb

Unfortunately it also makes no sense. The Dawnguard are vampire hunters. Why would they let the enemy into their midst?

That makes me wonder, why have two competing races of Vampire in Skyrim?

Volkihar (all have the ability to turn into a Vampire Lord I assume) and the Vanilla Vampires?

I hope that if you are a vampire and you try to enter Fort Dawnguard then bad things will happen to you.

why not? its been done before, if the vampire has every intention on helping out the dawngaurd. whats the deal?

Two strains maybe? One that has Vamp Lord, one thats the vanilla. The only real reason is gameplay. Whats if you want to be a vamp, but not a super sayain vamp?

I'd swear I heard someone refer to the vampire lords as stage 5 vampires. If that's true, they're not a separate type, but rather more advanced.

The "deal" is that the vampire is what they are trying to eradicate. You're not going to hang out and be buddy buddy with an undead abomination that you're intent on wiping out.

I'd heard that the Vanilla vampires are merely a strain of the Cyrodil vampires and the Volkihar are the actual Skyrim vampires.

Makes sorta sense that they would be competing since both are the strongest Vampire race types.

Volkihar being the brute force strongest..fastest, most deadly with magic and such and Cyrodil's vampires being the sneaky, cunning ones that may end up winning due to a backstab or treachery which is why they are the longest lasting vampire race.

..oh and yeah I heard if you side with Serana thats the Dawnguard side..if you side with Harkon, Volkihar side.

I think when a vampire lord is in his/her human/Beast/Mer form he/she is like a normal vampire.

Don't forget, though, that the vampires already in the game are getting overhauled.

you dont know that. The dawngaurd may not be vampire hunters for the sake of hunting vampires. Maybe they just dont want this vampire plan to go through

Oh and yeah its confirmed that Vampire Lord is an ability like turning into a werewolf is since both are similar, when not in Vampire Lord form I assume they look like a normal vampire but with golden eyes instead of red and black (I think anyway, see Harkon for Volkihar eyes)

Its not a stage of Vampirism from not feeding actually if you starve your character you won't be attacked anymore, you only get attacked if you turn into a vampire lord in public supposedly.

Both the vampire lords and normal vampires are Volkihar, its just that Vampire lords are the pinnacle of the species. Considering the small clips and stuff we have seen its likely that theres a special ritual involved.

Ah, it made me wonder because if I recall only the Cyrodil vampires were the ones who snuck around and fed on sleeping people which is what the Vanilla vampires in Skyrim do.

In Dawnguard it looks like you'll be able to just sink your teeth into any awake enemy/villager if you feel the need to quench your thirst which is epic..and it levels up your vampire lord skill tree!

I think the new feeding kills them though rather than leaving them alive.

There are a couple of Vampires in the TES lore that were against their kind, Janus Hassildor was one of them.

I hope you are able to, and more importantly i hope it adds interesting dialouge with the Dawnguard....

Yeah but he was just an average vampire...he wasn't a paragon of the species like the Volkihar and your character will be if you choose to side with them.

I don't recall Hassildor being particularly anti-vampire. Sure, he sends you on an errand to kill some vampires, but not because they were vampires. It was because they were stupid. Because they are stupid, they're drawing the unwanted attention of vampire hunters and he is worried about being found out. So, he sends you to kill the vampires so that the vampire hunters will go away, keeping his secret safe.
