i carnt afford the 2000 caps to get into vegas at the moment so i just wanted to know if anybody has tried sneaking past the robots thats gaurd the gate using stealth boy??

If not, you might be able ot get past the two monorail guards at McClarran Airflield, then you can just get on the monorail.

What the... hell... WHY haven't I already tried this?! I'm a little ashamed to admit that I've never even thought about it.

It doesn't work with the Boomers, so the securitrons are probably scripted to blast you regardless too.

I'm guessing the main gate "requires a key" and is unlocked by a script during the cash-check.
The monorail might work though.

You're not paying 2000 caps, the game is checking if you have 2000 caps.

You could try but you will need a key to enter so unless you have a Sniper Rifle you probably won't get in that way. I think a better way is to go to Mc Carren and use the Stealth Boy to sneak past the guards guarding the Monorail and take that into New Vegas.

You don't have to spend the 2000, just have the 2000 in your pockets. It should be easy to earn that much money. Kill some Fiends west of the strip and in one battle you will have the caps.

You need a key to get in the gate, so you will have to hack the guards, kill the guards and take the key, or go in through McCarrin at a certain time, or buy a counterfeit passport from someone in Freeside.

There is a store in the first part of Freeside. Two guys selling stuff, the guy in the back sells guns. If you speech is high enough, the guy in the front part will sell you a passport (for going to NV) for 500 caps.

I tried running through, I think. I was wearing full armor and the securitrons weren't upgraded, and I got to the gate, but I'm pretty sure it didn't open. The securitrons just blasted me. :sadvaultboy:

Ways to get past:

Have 2000 caps. You get in, and at a cost of 0 caps.
Buy a passport. You only need 500 caps, but you lose them. Requires a speech check of 50, I think.
Use your favor from the King to get in (I personally prefer using it in King's Gambit, but whatever).
OR Have a Science of 80 (50 with a magazine, Comprehension perk, and Followers membership).
