Cannot decide between 2

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 10:14 pm

There are 2 alternatives I want to try out in Skyrim. One being dual wielding swords. The other is a sword with destruction spell. I usually used flames, and it worked greatly. I saw my cousin using dual swords and take out enemies in a flash. But the problem is there are downsides to both alternatives.

swords x2:
-fast attacking
-leveling only health
-main only 1 skill tree
-only 1 guardian stone
-no blocking
-very vulnerable
-hard to approach

sword + destruction:
-constant stream of flame to attack with from distance.
-can play on weakness of enemy (frost weakness/flame weakness)
-use environment
-not as much damage as dual wield when close
-split leveling to health and magicka
-split skill tree leveling
-can only use 1 guardian stone at a time

Those are all the factors I have in the top of my head, atm. Right now, I'm leaning towards the 2nd choice; but not by much. Can you guys please help me make these choices technically. Maybe give examples if you can. Thanks!

i do use the single weapon with destruction spell works very well.

but there are times when i need to block or 2handed weapon is better.

chose the Lover's Stone...ALL skills go up 15% faster.

do not limit yourself to any one playing stye. try to do everything with your character.

dont forget to use the other armor, block, archery, sneak, 2 handed etc.

have your new character be a powerful character by being able to do most things well.

I tend to stay away from 2 handed weapons, and use shields when needed, but I want to main in one technique instead of being a jack of all trades. When encountering an enemy I tend to attack them with a bow when hidden for the bonus and then go in for the kill.

One reason I find the destruction combo helpful is with the centurian guard in the dwemer ruins. I would go behind the pill and walk around it, avoiding it, while using the flame spells, then going in with the sword when it would let loose of steam while recharging itself, then start the process again. I find that fighting it with dual wields, or even a shield would be damn near impossible for the stage I was during the confrontation, even with a companion.

if you are gonna dual wield level up stamina also. and dont worry about perks because you will always have enough considering there are alot of useless perks. (High teir flame, frost, and shock perks)

Yes reach out to every possibility of your character. As i'm SUPER close to becoming maxed and I love every bit of the strategic possibility you get when you are.

-Thief
-Warrior
-Mage

It comes in handy, yes. But don't tie your character down unless it's a pure then that changes everything.

Use the dual swords, destruction is rubbish.
