Cannot drop items from inventory

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 4:00 pm

I finally got around to actual "play time" and noticed that I cannot "drop" items from my inventory using the key "R" or by mouse. I accidentally picked up a bucket, which has become a permanent fixture to my inventory. Does anyone know of a fix for this? I did read that there was a problem dropping quest items, but I'm pretty sure a common bucket isn't one of those. If there is no "fix", I could live with a simple console command if available.

Skyrim for PC
Asus Sabertooth 990FX mainboard (BIOS Ver. 0901)
16GB GSkill Ripjaws DDR3-1333 memory
AMD FX-4100 Quad core
HIS iceQ Radeon HD 6790 (Dirt 2 Edition)
Soundblaster X-Fi
Microsoft Sidewinder X6 gaming keyboard
Viewsonic VA2702w monitor @ 1920x1080
Western Digital 640 Black Edition
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Fully updated, clean install)

*Note* I tried a standard Dell USB keyboard with the same result. I also tried the Sidewinder without the Intellitype software, ditto....

Have you remapped your keys by any chance?

Yes, but only the arrow keys to replace "WASD" function. All of the other keys are as they originally were programmed.

It might be an idea just to go select the default keyboard layout, just to make sure it's not the key mapping bug you're having.

Are you sure you didn't remap the 'r' key? Maybe by mapping the 'equip' command to a different key? Have a close look at your key settings, because that is exactly what happens when you map anything (well, anything I've tried at least) but the default equip/unequip command to the 'r' key.

I remapped all of the keys to the "stock" settings with no change. Odd... Is there a console command that allows me to drop items like the occaisional bucket or two?

console command would be player.removeitem and then what whatever the item ID is. I know it's just a bucket, but do be careful using the console.

There seem to be three different buckets. 00012fdf, 000747fb, 000747fe

If it's the first bucket it would look like this player.removeitem 00012fdf 1

The 1 being how many you want to drop

Yup. That's what I'm looking for! I'll get around to reinstalling the game this weekend to see if the "drop" key works prior to key reassignment. As for the console, I'm fairly familiar with it from Morrowind and Oblivion, and do appreciate the reminder. I sometimes forget things like that, which is a bad thing.
