Hi,

I had just finished a mission, 'The Legend of Red Eagle' and I took some items out of a chest but had to drop something because i was overloaded....

And the R button doesn't do anything !?

Oddly it works fine if I click on a body or a barrel etc, but not when free standing!

What's that al about? Is there a fix for this?

Also while im here, how can i change the R button to something else? It might useful for people who use the WASD keys but i don't, never have and never will (well unless im on a laptop), same goes for A.

For some reason this is not stickied even though everyone asks about it.

Basically when you change the default keybindings it can break the interface. You have to extract a settings file from an archive and edit it to make it work properly.

The Hard Coded Key Tweaks linked above by Azula II is a version of that.

I had seen that hardcoded patch a few days ago but wasn't sure about using it. I did try it last night and have to say I liked it
But although the R button is in an annoying place i kept trying to press it and it would me up, so last night I deleted Skyrim and re-downloaded it.

The Hardcoded patch makes my mouse button 5 the drop button which could be a little awkward, but im sure I'll get used to it, I just have this feeling that because its on the mouse i could end up accidentally drop the wrong thing.

I've also had a look at how to change keys manually and the fact that you need to mess around with Hex stuff put me off..... but maybe I'll give it another go

what i had to do was set my controls scheme back to default , then i just did not remap sheath weapon.

I had to hack the controls just to play at all. I am not left-handed, but lefties pretty much can't play with WASD, and that's about the only option the game gives you.

Once you start remapping, it breaks everything else, it took half the for the users to reverse-engineer the control system to the point it is now, where we can make all the commands work. Except for the ones that are broken out of the gate, of course.

If you want to remap anything, you pretty much have to do everything through the controlmap file, especially if you modify the activate/drop/ready keys.
