I beat the College of Winterhold story arch. Then I found Toldir's alembic but the guy is no where to be found.

I seached Saarthal and the College

Is he in the College basemant? The town?

This wouldn't be a big deal but I'm forced to never drop this stupid alembic and it weighs a few pounds, if anyone know about this issue, I would appreciate to know what the problem is. Thank you.

He's in the same dormitory the students are in. First floor.

To avoid this in the future you can select the quest in your log and it will show you the next step on the map. It will even put an icon on the compass, on doors you need to go through and the NPC you need to talk to. Makes finding NPCs that move around easier to find. .
