Sincere apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere (Elsweyr?), but I did a search for the relevant terms, and couldn't find it on this forum.

"Forbidden Legend" is proving to be something of a thorn in my side. Reason being, I found Gerimund's Hall organically while exploring, and quite a bit prior to receiving the directive to seek out the pieces. Therefore, I had already obtained the second Amulet fragment prior to the "official" commencement of the quest. Now, when I highlight "Forbidden Legend" in my quest to-do list, the next "uncompleted" task is to find the fragment I already have. And when I go to Gerimund's hall and re-clear it, the fragment obviously isn't in the last chamber (since it's in my inventory)...but the directive arrow is still hovering over one of the far corners of the cave. Not just that, but based on the "perspective" involved when I move around the marker, it almost looks as though it's pointing me to an inaccessible space well outside, and even BENEATH the chamber, if that makes any sense. There's nothing there to pick up, in any case.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there anything I can do? I'm playing on a 360, so PC console commands are out of the question. So is re-loading an old save, since about 10 real-time hours passed between finding the second fragment, and being sent to retrieve the first. Does the recent patch address this issue? I was prompted to install it yesterday, but have held off on doing so. That said, I'll plug that svcker in in a second if it will fix this. I'm something of a completist when it comes to quests I've started, so I'd hate to think I'm completely out of luck.

I thought this was a bugged quest for me too. Have you accessed the section for the third fragment in Saarthal during the mage guild's quest? I initially could not access the door because it needed a key. Well the "key" is held by a mage for the first quest in the line. Try deselecting the Forbidden Legend quest, and start the Mage Guild quest if you haven't started it. Get the third fragment and see about going back to retreive the second piece. Not sure if this would work, but its worth a try.

I can't remember what quest I got stuck on because of something goofy and ended up completing it by going in a round about way. Worth a shot. Hope it works!

I don't think I have, no. Either way, I know for sure I don't have the third fragment, so it seems unlikely.

Is the quest you're referring to a separate undertaking discrete from "Forbidden Legend?" I guess just I assumed that I'd be pointed at the third fragment after locating the first two...And that I'd never know where it was as long as the second fragment wasn't registering as having been retrieved yet on the quest list.

I also don't think I've found the Mage's Guild yet. So far I'm a Companion, Thief, Bard and one of the Dark Brotherhood, but I have yet to hear of the Mage's Guild, so I guess I'd better get crackin' and look for it.
