I cannot save after a certain point

After reinstalling the game and all the mods that I was using, I now cannot save. Auto, manual, and the console command to save the game all cause Fallout to crash to desktop. What is really odd is that it effects a large number of my save games. Every game from the last 15 hours I can load up, but I cannot save once I have load the save game. Other saved games, either ones before this stretch of time or one I made right after reinstalling, do allow me to save. I am really confused. I have tried everything that I can think of: running with no mods (the game crashes when I go to the Pip-Boy), running with some mods (game crashes), editing the ini file, using the default ini file. This happened to me two days ago, but I was able to use a saved game that was only a 15 minutes older than the one that went bad. Is there a fix for this? Does anyone even know what went wrong for me?

After reinstalling the game and all the mods that I was using, I now cannot save. Auto, manual, and the console command to save the game all cause Fallout to crash to desktop. What is really odd is that it effects a large number of my save games. Every game from the last 15 hours I can load up, but I cannot save once I have load the save game. Other saved games, either ones before this stretch of time or one I made right after reinstalling, do allow me to save. I am really confused. I have tried everything that I can think of: running with no mods (the game crashes when I go to the Pip-Boy), running with some mods (game crashes), editing the ini file, using the default ini file. This happened to me two days ago, but I was able to use a saved game that was only a 15 minutes older than the one that went bad. Is there a fix for this? Does anyone even know what went wrong for me?

That did work. The work around for my old saves that I discovered was the following.
1. Disable all the mods (allowing me to create fresh saves from the old)
2. Remove any modded items (allowing me to use the other items in that particular inventory screen)
2.a Some items I could simply move to a container.
2.b Some items required a console command to remove "player.removeitem " see http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_console_commands for relevant item ids
3. Reenable the mods.

Now my problem is that the game will freeze every so often. Typically once an hour. I guess I am going to have to disable mods one at a time to see if any were the culprit.

have you ran NVEdits Master Update function? that helps a lot when it comes to crash on saves and some performance issues

In fact, I had not until today :) I will run the game for a while later to see if this fixed it. When I saw how many conflicts I had, I was aghast. Here's to hoping.
