Never Rely on the auto save system - I only use manual saves never overwriting a old one

Last night I got to the end and i cant beat the game because what?


The damn game freezes to a black screen when i try to enter new vegas!!!!!!!!!!! then it corrupts whatever latest save i try to use!

Can I return a game that is broken to Gamestop?

I'm having a similar issue. My game is freezing to black screen every time I attempt to enter the Vegas strip, where all the quests are. This occurred after I finished debt collector quest, turned in for the reward and saved. Now I can't get back into the Vegas Strip. I can run around other places without any issues and do other quests.

I have attempted to release my companions, as some said that has worked, but it didn't for me. I attempted to have them wait somewhere else and still unable to get in. Every time it goes to black screen and reload, the auto save file is corrupt as well. So far I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of it, but hopefully a patch to fix this will come soon.

I know this doesn't really help, just wanted you to know that others are having the same issues w/Vegas strip black screen freeze.

How can you avoid overwriting and not have 100 plus saves?! Do you just make new saves each time and delete the old ones manually?

I have a similar issue while in the strip. Can't get anywhere or do anything without the blackscreen crash. Will continue testing, but a player fix may be available if you take certain steps to avoid these crashes.

You can save up to 100 seperate save points/files. Overwriting doesn't add more slots, so you could save on the same file as many times as you like. With the freeze issues, I would suggest at least 3 save points that vary between quests, in case you run into the same issues we're having, you can back up a few hours of gameplay.
