You have to destroy enchanted items you buy or find to learn their enchantments.

As said above you need to learn the enchantment by taking it from an existing enchanted item. This also destroys the enchanted item in the process.

Yep.

Have enchanted item in your inventory.
Go to enchanting altar
Select "Disenchant" (top of list) and select the enchanted item.
The item is destroyed and it's enchantment is now in your list of enchantments.

You have to destroy enchanted items you buy or find to learn their enchantments.

This, you have to disenchant weapons and items you find or buy. Their strength deosn't really matter and you are better using the lower leveled weapons or armour etc if you have two items with the same enchantment.
I tend to stay away from disenchanting anything that has an actual name, like the Axe of Whiterun or Chillrend for example as they are unique items.

After you disenchant an item, you then can use it to enchant your items.

However, be aware that early on, if you're doing low-level enchanting, the percentages/numbers of the enchant will be lower than what you saw when you disenchanted it.

Strength of enchantments is determined by your enchantment level, and the type soul gem you use. So, if you disenchant, for example, an item that has 25% more bow damage, at a low level you can enchant that onto your item but it maybe 4%.

As you level up and use higher level soul gems, the percentages will increase.

Good luck.

This is the best place for Skyrim info. Use their search box and find anything.

Well, since no one's said it; you have to disenchant items you find in order to learn the enchantments.

Gosh, I wish more people were helpful here!

Because it isn't like Morrowind or Oblivion where as long as you had the spell it was there. In Skyrim you have to disenchant items to gain their enchantments. That is what the little disenchant option is for when you go to enchanting table.

I know what you mean. Most people on these forums anymore just want to make sarcastic, "you are a noob", comments like they do in crap like WoW to new players. There are alot of good people as well. Just goes to show the maturity of some.

Tip: Chose to destroy an item with an effect you already have in another item you have, and destroy the one with the lowest stat.

And do not destroy unique items, such as the Dragon Priest Masks, unique armors and weapons...

Hauling augmentation can make you a lot of money.
