Cant install skyrim on PC

Post » Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:25 pm

Hi all I have a hard copy of Skyrim for PC. I put in disc it goes through install for Steam but when i goes to update steam i get an error saying it can't update. Any ideas why it is doing this. I have gone through forums to find any thing similiar but can't find anything. It is very annoying that I cant install this game from a disc because of some silly error.

cheers

There is one trick i know that you could try. Instead of installing through the disc, open up Steam and at the top of Steam click on "Games" then click on "Activate a Product on Steam" click next and then it should ask you for a cd key. Put in your Skyrim CD Key and then it will authenticate the cd key. Once the key is authenticated it will add Skyrim to your Games list on the left hand side of Steam. Click on Skyrim and then click install. This will download the entire game from Steam instead of installing from the disc. If you have a good internet speed you can usually get games downloaded from Steam in an hour or less. Maybe Steam is having issues with installing games through discs right now so try it this way. Best of luck :)
