Is my pc capable of running Skyrim?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 6:50 pm

So here are my specs from clicking on te system properties or something like that.

Dell Studio 540

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E7500 @2.93GHz 2.94 GHz

4 GB

64 but OS

I think it should work somewhat fine. Probably more powerful than my ps3 :P

Anyways, I'm fine with just medium settings (so what I play on with ps3), but would like a few mods here and there. So, could my pc be capable of running Skyrim?

Also, can it run new Vegas and fallout 3?

How can I find my video card specs? Oh and sorry about the duplicate. I don't normally ask my specs and have never seen that thread.

You can always use canyourunit.com to get a full outline of your rig and at the same time check if it SHOULD be able to run Skyrim. Not that people have been able to run Skyrim with 128mb, You can almost always run it with your current CPU and RAM, but if your videocard's shabby you can still run into problems.

Ok. I've seen and used that website on another laptop of mine. Here's what's crazy. My more expensive, faster, ect. Had all specs passed except the video card or sound card, yet my cheaper laptop had many specs failed but a capable video or sound card. I was like whaaat.

Anyways, my desktop studio 540 should do the trick. I'd prefer to just check the specs without using that site but I guess I'll have too. Thanks though, that was kind of you.

Your PC looks CAPABLE of running it, but it doesn't look like you're going to get dazzling performance. Your processor is capable but rather lacking, and your videocard is not really made for intense gaming. It's a 1GB card but it is definitely low grade. It'll likely run fine, but don't expect silky smooth performance and much over medium detail levels.

What he said, here are the official minimum requirements.

Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
2GB System RAM
6GB free HDD Space
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM
DirectX compatible sound card
Internet access for Steam activation

So yeah, you should be able to run it around low-medium settings. Definitly medium in NV and Fallout 3. As I said, it's possible to run Skyrim at much worse video cards. Your performance won't be perfect, but with Skyboost and .ini tweaks (check the Nvidia Tweak Guide) you should be able to have a good experience.

Use your PC and upgrade your GPU make sure to check you power supply to see what it can handle as far as an upgrade. You want something with a decent amount of V RAM as well 1 GB or more. I have a buddy who ran Skyrim Vanilla on release pretty well on a 260 Nvidia chipset.
