be carefull what you say.

i have been noticing alot of people asking for things that i feel would be overpowerd to whatever class/weight they want to play. mainly because alot of people still dont fully understand that even if a class was that powerfull it just means thats the only class people will use. so before you post new ideas for the game just make sure to post its weakness aswell.(to balance things up).

so since this is a short topic i have decided to ad a sub topic.

what do you think a brink demo should include? just remember that too much could spoil the real game.
oh and try stick to the topic because i know on forums theres like 10 people per topic complaining about nothing.

i choose SMART, getting the feel of the system and getting to know how far you can trust your AI-teammates seems a better training for the actual game than playing online would be.

and character creation... while it being fun and all, it doesn't really sound that fun, and besides, you wouldn't have much of the customization options, since in the actual game you need to unlock them.

gameplay is the number one, most important thing they need to nail, so I put that. I also chose customization, to get a feel for what to expect. I could care less about SMART. It's something I'll pickup and learn when they game releases. I'm playing Heavy anyway.

Game play is what I want to see. Everything else is secondary.

There's already a few videos out demonstrating the S.M.A.R.T system and customization. So, I'd like to see some more online gameplay videos.

i said character customisation (limited options) and good use of the SMART system.
i think the demo should be one whole mission (a short one). it should focus on the key points of BRINK:
teamwork, strategy, and customization
maybe 2 levels, and it could give you a taste of the level-up thing (evolving your character)

Well, if there were to be a demo, and I'm not being careful with what I'm saying here, I would like their to be a story. Also, I would like some characters, and some weapons, some pictures. Perhaps some art would be good, and you know, being able to play it would be a plus.

I want to be able to play online and get a little peak at the customization.

2 levels.

Some online game play would be cool, but not necessary.

Gameplay and SMART, as SMART is actually part of the gameplay. Character creations is not necessary for the demo, plus, how can you sample character creation?

make only a small portion of the customisation options available for the demo. the rest would be a black silhouette to give you an idea

another cinematic would be cool but i prefer some nice heavy gameplay

if by any chance there is a demo, there would probably be premade character for you to choose from

It could be like the QuakeCon demo - you can only choose from archetypes. No customizing other than colors.

If you mean a demo from the devs in a Video,

then id say online gameplay, but........... a little more fleshed out then what we have seen in the vids so far, like show a proper team working together or hell even invite 2 well known clans from say W:ET or quake wars to come play the game, then get them to play a proper comp match that is videoed / edited with commentry from devs explaining things etc etc , not just some pub randoms from quakecon / E3 or any other show room floor playing. (this will probably never happen as who would pay flight costs etc etc :P .. we can always hope tho )

Also I'd like to actually see the PC version being played instead of the 360 one. The online gameplay vids ive seen so far are all from the 360 or PS3, so the feel is all weird to me in those vids with all the gamepad aiming going on, it just makes me cringe.

If you mean an actual demo of the game that people download and play themselves.... then id also have to say online gameplay. :)

Mainly because of the fact that when I tried out the Quake wars demo, which was only 1 map online/offline, I got hooked.

I swear I played hour after hour after hour of that Valley map with my brother online, constantly watching the forums / website for more news until the game came out and I bought the SOB right away.

It was a pity it didn't get the audience it deserved ( some say the demo came out too early and burnt a lot of players out which is probably true to a point......not me tho :) ) as it was a great game, not as good as W:ET but still had that.....W:ET flair to it.

I would play the brink demo for hours on end just the same if it were online :)

SMART while cool just seems like a gimmick, the only thing that I can think of it changing is the ability to slide. Most of the other things it does are accomplished in other games with jump actions, it just smooths the animations out a bit. I hope they show gameplay the most, maybe a bit of customization. Although with most games I usually press randomize till I get something I like (character look wise) and then go with that.

I can't any other FPS that you can climb up a fifteen foot wall, or do mantles and wall jumps. Well at least without glitching.

Even as a Heavy, I who has the lowest amount of SMART usage, I can't think of any FPS games that allow you to jump at a wall or a ledge and your character will climb over it. Yeah, you can jump over things in other games - if they are low enough - otherwise, your guy just looks like an idiot jumping in place against a wall.

I think you were expecting backflips and freerunning, and were disappointed when you found out this was not what SMART is about.

In most FPS games when game developers intended you to be somewhere they would add a set of objects for you to jump from till you eventually ended up on a roof, this just streamlines that (Makes it SMARTER if you will).

Good guess, but completely wrong. Thanks for playing. I'm not even sure where you got that from, I never said the feature wasn't cool (infact I said the opposite) I just said I don't think it is very game-changing.

i got about the same impression as H0RSE out of your post.

further more, i believe it to be game changing, since it would take a whole lot of frustration out of a game.
not needing to run around a wall since you slightly miscalculated a sprinting jump and therefore can't get the height to get over it,not needing to press the jump button again and again because you want to use some boxes to get up on something.
sliding through a relatively small gap instead of running around it cuz you can't get through that gap that is actually big enough to let you squeeze through.

The bolded red part, is why I think you were expecting way too much. If you don't find it game changing, then you either know little about what SMART actually enables you to do, or you were expecting to be hopping around the battlefield like a Cirque du Soleil act.

now that'd be overpowering the lights, they'd need to severely upgrade the miniguns RoF to be able to take those out

It's just a clever way for the developer to create alternate routes, which should (or would) be done with or without the smart system.

i don't see why a light would need a jetpack since they can climb on pretty much everything

but give it to a heavy and it would be one heck of a overpowered party :celebration:
