Actually now you say that I had a weird event in riften, i'm with the thieves guild and when in the market one time i heard a scuffle behind me, turned round and a dead thief (cant remember exact title) lay just behind me, and my followers were standing closer than normal alongside some guards...so i took the dead thiefs gear and sold it at the market

How do you fit 60k gold pieces in your pocket? I think you might need 6 horses, twelve wagons, and 120 chests to haul all that around with you.

oh there are thieves trust me one tried to rob me when i had no gold and all i had was ragged robes and boots and an iron dagger and i was frail with balding hair and a scraggly beard i told him i had no money but he said i looked absolutely lousy with coin so thieves are obviously dumb wastes of skin

I have 30k right now, and I've been mugged.
I'd say, if your using fast travel alot, you won't see too much random incounters such as being robbed.
If you are one who doesnt fast travel, I'd say your Very lucky. Or unlucky...I kind of like getting into fights...
