They may seem very linnear if you decide to simply follow the journal and quest marker, however, if you go around and talk to more of the people involved you can sometimes unlock alternative paths and new questlines that didn′t appear at first. I′ve found several interesting twists to the quests that appear if I pay attention to details and follow up on what NPC's are saying.
