I think that it would be very difficult to manage, but possible. Give Bethesda time. There's no better place to start than melee combat, and branch out from there. We're very lucky to be given this!

Uhhm can't you use range? I personally think Beth just doesn't like mages.

On PC you might be able to play around with the CK and enable it. But I'm sure they have there reasons for not using magic on horseback

Yeah, gimping it even more. Seeings as if you think about it putting your hand out while horse back riding is clearly the easiest of the three.

From the video shown here, it doesn't seem like magic is usable on mounted combat.
You're able to use archery tho, which is pretty cool. (Video source is from Skyrim Nexus)

Still, it is a much appreciated addition, and much respect to Bethesda for releasing it for free and not charging it as a dlc.
im assuming magic use will be implemented in a later patch like the magic kill cam.

If anything, the release of patch 1.6 makes me even more excited for Dawnguard DLC.
If mounted combat can be released for free, what goodies will await us on a PAID DLC?

My goodness im so hyped up about Dawnguard!!!....but i know i really shouldn't...but...ohhhh Should i be hyped up about Dawnguard??

It's not really that simple. Just be grateful for what they give you. It will be put in eventually

Lets not argue of the degrees
Of difficulty our characters experience casting
Spells as a
Justification for no magic (as of now) as that argument is boundless and terrible.

If i had to guess i would say magic will come
Later- things like cloak spells and master
Spells might be gumming up the works, because i think we all know people would try casting master spells while at full gallop.

Those issues probably Need to
Be addressed so it isnt all crashy when it is realeased.
