Caves, Forts, Ruins, etc.

What is your favorite thing to explore in Skyrim?

Personally, I love caves. I think their structure is cool and they all have interesting little stories to them that I love. That is the magic of Skyrim, finding the "untold" stories in the world.

Dragon temple ruins are with most creativity.

The fort ruins really boring.

I prefer ruins. I'm always curious about the history of them.

To be honest, for me it's the open areas. I've always tended to Fast-Travel everywhere, but when I want to take a bit of time I don't use that option, and I'm finding things in the open, which after 200 hours+ on this character is always quite a thrill.

However, for the OP, Ruins would be my favourite. Always had this "thing" about long-abandoned "man"-made structures.

Nord ruins/crypts.
I love the atmosphere in them, but mostly the exterior.

I just like going through all of them. I want to know what is inside and how big is it.

Not a big cave fan usually in TES, though Skyrim has some interesting places.

Love some of the forts - the one that crosses a river (forget what it's called) I really liked, cleared it, wanted to live there... then found bandits kept respawning. So I like the forts for the fighting, but they aren't usually that good for "exploring".

Actually, I think I agree with you on this one. Open areas with hidden little secrets/stories are by far the coolest imo.

It is a tie between the ice caves and Nordic Barrows. I love the brightness of the caves. But they can be a little small. The Nord Ruins tend to be good-sized OTOH, and they give me my favorite enemy to fight: Draugr.

Dwemer Ruins, purely because I love the lore behind them, and the architecture is simply astonishing. (Y'know, despite most of it being underground)
Good examples exist in Blackreach, and I intend to head back down there sometime this weekend to fully explore what I can. It must be documented! *waves around his journal*

I like the Dwemer ruins. The architecture is refreshing after the usual Skyrim stuff...and it reminds me of all my fun times in Morrowind.

caves.

i felt like the ruins got WAAAAY to samey (like alylied ruins)

caves always surpized me with their diversity and beauty. i just wish there was a DLC pack that just adds MORE of ALL of them.

ive explored evey cave/ruin/ whatever in this one. i dint even get close to doing that in oblivion and i played that game 3 times as much.
