Cazadors are real... : Fallout: New Vegas

Apparently a species of giant wasp called the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarantula_hawk.

Also apparenty their sting is considered the second most painful in the insect world. And they lay their eggs inside of living tarantulas so the young eat them from the inside.

The tarantula hawk is relatively docile and rarely stings without provocation. Tell that to the Cazadors.

No. That is absolutely terrible for people with arachnophobia.

Anyway yeah, I guessed that's what they are inspired by. Learned about those things on a third grade field trip and it stuck with me, they had a diagram of the cycle of them fighting with tarantulas and pulling the whole facehugger/chestburster thing on them. Creepy. And as an aside, if I remember my Spanish well enough, cazador means like hunter or prowler doesn't it?

Yeah. Cazar is to hunt (I always assumed it shared a root with "chase".. sounds similar. To chase/pursue/hunt. Don't know if that's true though.)

I think Cazador is also one of the traditional roles in a bullfighting arena. Cazadors harry the bull with spears to anger it and get it ready for the matador (killer)...

Thing is though... If you read that wiki entry to the end it also states that one of the few creatures that can feed on the Tarantula Wasp is the roadrunner..

Thing just loses all credibility to me at that point..
