My 2 cents :\

Hi all. Most of my blah blah below is negative but please know I do like Skyrim. Welcome to the forums!

In Feb a new game is coming out. Iv been looking forward to it for a little while now as Skyrim is a bit of a let down for me and have been looking for something new. Im not sure if I can mention it here so ill just mention "Amalur". Hopefully Beth doesnt lose sales as that game has been getting a lot of attention.

Why am I posting this? Because Skyrim could have been awesome (and I need to vent). Instead, its ok. Don't get me wrong, its fun and all but there are moments I just quit in frustration. At most I dabble these days with Skyrim and turn it off once things get annoying. But for now there isnt another game like it as far as I know.

As a PC player I feel Skyrim could have been so much more. Graphics arnt a big deal for me as I play Minecraft, however the actual gameplay feels sluggish and unbalanced.

I have tried a number of characters now. Rogue\assassin, warriors of all types, mage and a battle mage. Only 2 of them hit 30+ as they were balanced enough to actually complete content but not the type of class I wanted to stick with. The fact I had to make so many characters to try and find a good balance between not getting 1 shot or giving just as much back has been difficult, if not a little impossible.

Not all is bad though as I may make it seem. Graphics and dungeon design are all very awesome. Combat, although clumsy, does work well when you hit something. Most games it feels like you're in a slapping contest. But thats about it.

Iv read forums on mods and hints and it doesnt help. The game is what it is. I hope Beth keep their promise to fix the bugs and other issues this year so we can all enjoy the game the way it should have been.

Cheers.

(Its 3:30am, Im off to bed ha!)

To those who care, some issues I have. Its not everything...

Linking spells\ablities to keybard are dreadful (item\spell selection in general is broken as far as I care).

Mob and skill balance is horrible and the forums are full of complaints on this issue. I never know if my new character will be overpowered or too weak (under level 20ish) and find all kinds of issues. If I have a warrior in full plate, magic protection and 200 health, I don't expect to be one shot.

Magic in this game is pretty bad. For me, there has only ever been one game where I enjoyed a mage and that was Dungeons&Dragons Online. I don't expect a copy to Skyrim but some extra research\tests would be nice. I found the mage to not only be super tough to play, but boring and annoying (duel spells was a nice idea though).

AI is rather dumb. Iv lost count to the number of times they tried to run through a wall to kill a monster.

In regards to mob balance I found the following. Without using trade skills its possible for mobs to hit hard but too too overpowered. In fact, the fights can be rather fun. Boss fights however are hardly ever fun. Being 1 or 2 shotted is common which forces you to drink potions a LOT (usually don't have many with no trade skill). Instead make bosses have more hit points but less damage. Fights are longer this way before potions are required and you get some hits in (more fun!). Prob won't work but meh...

As a last note, I hardly ever, ever, ever come across gear with resistance. Fighting casters is tough! But thats me.

You keep referring to all the classes you've been playing. I belive that's one of your problems. There are no classes in skyrim. Free your mind of that and I belive you will find the game much more enjoyable.
This is also not a mmo. Don't rush the game, instead take your time to explore. The game is not about finishing it, it's about the journey and exploration.

This is probably one of the reasons you're getting one/two shotted. If you explore the world and practice your skills on low level creatures before jumping into dungeons, you'll probably have less difficulty.

Also, addressing the 'too easy' route- if you're finding enemies are too easy for your level, check your difficulty slider, and perhaps back off of powerlevelling things like crafting and enchanting.

Sorry the game wasn't to your liking. It is a very different gaming experience than most RPG's on the market.
