Change clothes after marriage?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 9:16 pm

So...
i just got married with http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Sylgja but i have one little problem: Why the hell does she keep wearing these totally ugly clothes?!
I′m rich! I can afford to buy her decent clothing, but there isn′t even an option to change things like it is possible to do with companions! Oo
Why not? Can′t be i run around in highend armor and my poor wife looks like a beggar -.-

Any way to change this?
Will consolecommands (additem) actually let them wear different stuff or just give it to them (since they are "vendors")?
A decent patch or mod would be even better, but meanwhile even console commands would be fine for me.

Greetz,

Your wife in the game is gonna run around in her beggar clothes or whatever she wears, even if you are the richest person in Skyrim. And if you marry a companion character, then she is gonna wear armor all the time, even if you try to remove whatever you gave her , she is gonna default back to whatever she was wearing originally. It is not programmed in the game, that she will change clothes according to your wealth, just like even if you are a dragonborn who defeated Alduin already, some jarls and people will still treat you like sh_t. "I got my eyes on you" - says to me the dunmer bodyguard in Whiterun's imperial room, like I'm trying to steal an apple or something. Basically it's a non-living; static economy, your loot or business doesn't make anyone richer or poorer.
It kinda destroys the immersion part, I agree on that, you just can't change the circumstances, you do not bring change to the world whatever you do. The changes are minor (npcs you helped gives you a different speech, or a cave may remain unoccupied for a short while and then repopulated.) It's like I was expecting that the bits&pieces store will start doing better after selling them some expensive stuff, but instead, they default back to 750 gold. Or how about , that nobody buys anything from them, they are all waiting for you to buy something? And then I figure out that it's a perk to have them more gold, but that's again a benefit only for you, so you can sell more stuff to them.

Fully agree with you there...
As good as Skyrim is, it′s still FAR away from "realistic". Sure, probably no game at all will ever be fully realistic but it′s the small things, like some you mentioned.
Sure, people go walk around, have a "life" but on the other hand, there are games out there, doing this already way better.
It′s sad all these "little things" have to be made by modders, instead of the lead programmers. And it′s even more sad, i′ll probably won′t play Skyrim a second time once i′m done, since a lot of things will repeat themselves and i just hate that. I just hope the DEVkit will come soon, so i will be able to enjoy some of the great mods that will surely come out, just like they did in Oblivion (which i started over again like 4 times but always aborted it after playing some of the mods...)
