Changes to Skyrim needed

Hi all

Firstly I love this game don't get me wrong, however these are some of the things I would like to see added in a upcomming patch or the new installment of the scroll series.

1. I think that the talents are useful at the moment however they could be tweaked so that non combat trees don't require you to spend so many points to unlock the usefull however not combat related perks.

2. I think that it would be a great addition to the game to add flying mounts. For example a dragon mount. Before you worry game designers I dont mean this to be a spoiler so as people fly around and miss all the content. I think that a scripted encounter that allows you to get a flying mount can only be available to you once you have discovered over 80 percent of the locations in the game.

The reason behind this is that I dont want people to skip past content with a super fast mount, however once you have most of these locations discovered at the moment people are just using fast travel to the closest location to a quest and then just runing or riding a few kms to the objective.

With a flying mount you would be able to see this game in all its glory from they sky, or from a mounten peak. For the throat of the wold or other places that are locked untill you travel far enough down a story line these can be a must have completed status before the flying mount can become available.

3. I think that the talent trees should be untrainable. For example if you spend half the game as a duel wielding warrior, half way through you can unlearn all your spent talent points for a set price or a quest or something hard and then you can respec into destruction to be a mage or etc.

4. I have more ideas but I need to go the wife is calling me to go shopping lol, any other tips or helping sugestions most appreciated.

Finally I tip my hat to bethseda you have made a woderful game I hope it only gets better from here!

1.) I actually don't really have any problems with the perk trees as they are. I like 'em.

2.) I wouldn't be anti-flying mount. I don't think that it's -needed-, persay, but it would be a welcome addition I think.

3.) To be honest, I'm not quite sure how I feel about untrainable perks. On one hand, it does svck if you take a perk or 2 in a particular tree, and then find out that the playstyle isn't for you, well, you've wasted those perks unless you start over and recreate the character. On the other hand, I do like the aspect that your character is your character, they specialize in what you've trained them in, and your character decisions actually matter instead of just being undone.

4.) Well I can't help you with that. :P

Dragon riding? Surely you can think why that would not work?

The problem with flying mounts is that cities are separate zones. Would be odd to fly over the terrain on your way to a city, just to get there and be greeted by...no city. Then again, you mentioned having to have 80% of the content done before you could ride a Dragon, so maybe they could impose some reason as to why Dragons are not allowed to fly over/into cities?

the "you can't ride dragons because they are intelligent creatures" doesn't work anymore if you've played through the MQ :D

I disagree. The game map is small as it is. And dragons are an even worse example. I like to imagine they are intelligent antagonists in this game not everyone's [censored] pony.

Sorry to break this for you but horses are very intelligent creatures as well, and yet they're being hopped on. It's not their choice but they can be trained.

I think everyone's point is that dragons are openly sentient, and lore-wise are very arrogant. It'd be unlikely one would let you ride them other than in terms of a deal.

I don't think flying mounts were not added as a game discovery issue, I think it was more of a control and polishing issue

how do you control a dragon while its flying? can you still make it hover? can you control is to fly one way and shoot breath another way? does it still bob up and down while flapping? is there a glide button? how much work is it going to be to add all of those features in, especially since the game could already use more polish and bug squashing, also how do you deal with clipping? look at the horse when you go over rough terrain, it clips through, so if you crash into a mountain does it clip through? does it kill the dragon?

much too much work for a wholely unnecessary feature if you ask me

With all due respect to the original poster, I feel that having a flying mount would simply be wrong.

Let me explain why by example of a previous game that shall be forever known as world of undesirable gameplay. Once the ability to fly across the world was established in that particular game, it removed the actual world from the player. Your mineral deposits, herbs and random encounters were completely ignored or abandoned simply to progress to the next stage of a quest. That, my friends, destroys the very aspect of the game itself.

Further, and with continued respect for the opinion of those who would enjoy having a flying mount, where would you "park" your particular dragon? When you buy a horse and ride it somewhere, you have to remember where you left it in order to retrieve it. It simply makes sense because you would have to do the same in the real world. If you had a dragon you could fly all over anywhere, where would it go when you decided to stop at a cave or abandoned mineshaft?

Regarding "untrainable perks", it has been shown that you only choose your perks based off of what you actually do with your character and therefore have no real reason to undo a choice. Granted, moving from a two-handed tank method to a cloth-wearing destructo-mage is difficult, it is not impossible. While you are levelling your character, you choose between health, magicka and stamina prior to choosing your perks. If you get to level 32 and want to completely change your playstyle, you simply need to choose magicka over stamina or health over either of the other two as you continue to level. This ensures that balance can be maintained in your playstyle and offers the opportunity to discover everything in the game itself rather than being funnelled into a solitary decision.

Horses are not openly sentient though, they run on instinct, and can be trained, dragons cannot. That would be like trying to train a very large altmer to let you ride on his back across the map as a breton.

I strongly disagree on the flying mount matter. From above the world will lose a lot of the vertical majestic factor. And the flying speed would make the world feel very very small.
Untrainable perks? Hell no, that defeats a lot of the replayability value.
