Changing Navmesh Height

For a while now if I find Navmesh issues I simply don't use the mod and I am missing out on some really creative and really great mods. I was looking at the mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=116194621 (swordoftheninth.esp) and I saw an issue with the Navmesh at Riverwood. I'm not looking to make disparaging comments, rather I have only got the hang of modifying pre existing Navmeshes that don't change height. For example there was a Mario mod that had tons of issues as well because of height. How do I change the height of a triangle, the side of the triangle, or even just the one vertex by itself. Can I raise the vertex and then use a hotkey similar to the one used to drop a selected object to the floor? How do you properly Navmesh a tent so the the NPC doesn't try to walk through the side of it? Do you make an interior island and join it with some triangles so there is a path to enter the tent?

I did create some new triangles and move some things around so that the beautiful green line appeared. However, i am still worried about height of the land and the Navmesh.
