I just don't like the never-ending thing because NPCs don't shut up about the battle, and because the book never really closes. When broken steel starts, you could technically just retire. That's all I've been wanting, not even to just continue exploring after Hoover Dam, but to just retire. With the majority of companions/factions gone, what would there be to do in the Mojave? Not much. It was your fault for gonig after the battle. But atleast I can just chill in my Lucky 38 suite and just look calmly down at the world, awaiting the new DLC to take me away from this place. Hey, that's a perfect idea! The story should continue, but the companions who do stuff/leave should leave, any destroyed faction should leave, all things should play out, and all faction quests are completed. This way, "completed' couriers can just retire to the Strip.
But what am I rambling about, the whole "your future will always dangle in front of you" seems to be whats in. I don't know about you, but I have yet to read a book by an author who purposely didn't print the last chapter of a book.
