Character Build

I don't think it does. In Fallout 3 it added points to Energy Weapons, Explosives and Lockpick. The only passive ability it had was increasing the range that you could detect enemies on the compass.

good, so i dont need much of it on my guns and melee chars

Nope. The only reason I ever take it is if I need it to meet a perk requirement.

I've decided to scrap BtD on my guns guy for good natured. That's right, he's a good natured, cannibalistic, klepto, gambling, slaver. Live with it :D
and any suggestions for the second char?

I'm going for something along the lines of

S.P.E.C.I.A.L (before Intense Training)
Strength - 5
Perception - 6
Endurance - 5
Charisma - 3
Intelligence - 10
Agility - 6
Luck - 5

S.P.E.C.I.A.L (after Intense Training)
Strength - 7
Perception - 8
Endurance - 7
Charisma - 3
Intelligence - 10
Agility - 8
Luck - 7

Skills
1. Guns - tagged
2. Repair - tagged
3. Lockpicking - tagged
4. Science
5. Energy Weapons

Traits
Wild Wasteland
Small Frame

Perks
Educated
Comprehension
Intense Training (x10)
Jury Rigging
Tag!
Action Boy

I'm sure people could find fault in it, but that's what I'm going for because it perpetuates a play style I like in the Fallout universe. Of course when I start playing things could change. ;)

Yeah, I couldn't care less about Charisma. Never had in any RPG.

I have perks. ;) I know what you mean though. I'm not all that into any of those other "perks". They just don't interest me. :\

I wonder btw. whether evil characters will benefit as much from Speech as good characters will. I mean sure, there's bound to be some "[Speech] No, I want more money than that!" moments, but all the big, quest-advancing dialogue where Speech really gets to shine have always been of a more diplomatic nature. The best (or worst) kind of evil imo is the scheming, manipulating kind and I really hope Obsidian has put some effort into that, but I don't recall a single interview/preview/etc. that would've talked about this.

i agree!
if that kind of evil were to show up in F:NV, it would make my.. well year. I still cant wait for F:NV in a day (in america). I hope F:NV is as good as F3.

heyo..

did one earlier but after some better research.. this will be my first hard/hardcoe play PC. Going for the whole Wasteland explorer, living off the land ... hippie thing. Will do my best to make that charles manson look and try to run this without companions.

S P E C I A L

5, 6, 5, 4, 9, 6, 5

Traits:

Good Natured. (+25 points for -5 to Guns, just to good to pass up)
Wild Wastland (Just HAVE to)

Tagged: Primary

Guns, Science, Repair (each to 90)

Secondary:

Lockpick, Survival, Medicine

Might have some issues here.. but will use mags when ever I run across something tricky to hack/pick :)

Perks: Not in any order but when requirements are met.

1. Confirmed Bachelor

2. Hunter

3. Comprehension

4. Educated

5. Entomologist

6. Hand loader

7. Shotgun Surgeon

8. Commando

9. Scrounger

10. Strong Back

11. Sniper

12. Jury Rigging

13. Tag

14. Lead belly (only cause I think water will play a huge part of the surroundings.. after all it is the mojave desert. here i come toilets.)

15. Adamantium Skeleton (cause nothing will piss me off more than having to limp back to a doctor, a bajillion miles away... from that dang booby trap)

Probably stay away from factions, and main plot.. just roam around, explore, live off the land, sell hides, make caps for implants and get my berings. then go from there. sounds fun. Is it tuesday yet?

cheers
