10 characters too few?

I know many people are happy playing with their level 20's but if you're like me and if you regard gaining XP as part of the enjoyment of playing and which gives you a sense a satisfaction, achievement, purpose and progress, then I personally feel that 10 characters capped at a relatively low level of 20 (soon to be 24) is not enough. Please note that I'm not suggesting that the level cap be raised since that wouldn't work given the small number of abilities and the need to avoid having uber-maxed out characters in all trees. But it's just that I enjoy playing Brink and have been spending the majority of my gaming time on it and already I'm on my 7th character, with 3 20's and the rest very close to 20. I concede that I prolly haven't mastered the game or come close since I haven't been playing amongst the 'big boys' very often and have hardly used my Rank 5 abilities, so flamers, I've pre-empted you xD And No, I'm not a XP-wh0r3 Medic ^_^

What can I say? I enjoy levelling up more and when I play with my level 20's I just feel somehow that any XP I would've earned has gone to waste. So I'm worried for this game's longevity since I'm running out of characters and it'd be nice if SD gave some thought to players such as myself =)

With regards to my suggestions, I think that *maybe* the number of characters could be raised to 12 or 15. Anything beyond that would just be ridiculous. You'd be at the Character Selection screen for AGES while it loaded your 20 characters xD
So perhaps the 'Prestige' method is the way to go? It has proven successful in COD and it really motivates gamers to keep playing the same character, so in a sense with the Prestige system operating, 10 characters would be more than sufficient =)

I would like to hear your viewpoints, both from people who agree and disagree with me =) Thanks for reading!

how about just adding a delete character feature? ... what you could always do is use the respec option all the way down to 1... its in the abilities menu...

..But that would just be throwing away hard-earned XP away imo. All those hours spent levelling up? Gone. Such a waste. It would make the whole idea of levelling up a character futile and pointless if you knew that at the end of of it you were just gonna lose it. Nah, although I've thought of it, respeccing my characters down to level 1 or deleting them entirely would not be an option for me, sorry =)

i personally think 10 is enough. after your first 3 characters you pretty much know what abilities and weapons u like and want to use. so your next 3 characters your goin to set up exactly how you want and youll use them more then not when you play. i can understand the want or need to see the xp just keep stacking up tho. makes you feel like ur doin something kinda or trying to reach something. so i get that. the way i see lvl 20 tho is now its time to stop worry about xp and start fine tuning ur gameplay and then testing ur skill against others.

I'll say this... regarding the COD reference.

two things..

1. every game since 2001 that is an FPS has mimicked ONE game.. HALO. We are essentially all playing HALO clones which are essentially inspired from Wolfenstein 3D and Quake lol

2. every game since 2009 that is an FPS has mimicked ANOTHER game.. COD. You can't deny it. So basically we are just playing Halo/COD variants over and over with different masks.

REGARDING YOUR COD REFERENCE:

I say NO. We don't need to see more of the same being implemented in Shooters... Developers are smart, and its time they start innovating and branching out ideas with FPS, the genre is literally coming to a stop after MW3 and BF3... everything in development now that is released post MW3 and BF3 launch will just be the ending of this phase... within 2 years when pretty much everything is ready for a fresh face, possibly even announcing some new consoles... THEN WE NEED TO SEE NEW IPS..

BRINK isn't COD, Doesn't need to be COD, and the closest thing I can compare it to is some old School QUAKE with TF2 inspiration, Halo's regenerating health, and COD's "perks".

All you really need is two maxed out characters IMO. 4 if you want to get technical and have one for each class. I think adding some sort of prestige or veteran system is a great idea! I need some feeling of achievment while playing this game.. and veteran mode would make the cut for that feeling.. i like it

I refer your first point to your second. COD's Prestige Mode was resetting your progress. All you got for doing so that was kept was emblems and that wasnt even in the first type.

There is a delete character feature.....

Personally, if you NEED XP to continue having fun I dont really think this game is for you. The fact that there's only 20 ranks is sign enough that the game is designed to be unlocked early and enjoyed. I would have preferred if you could only have one character (and why I'm against being able to change character between maps) because of the idea of the game is more like that of an RPG where your character only has limited choices and you have to make the best with what you've chosen. I'm not saying that it's a bad idea for games in general, but I dont think it's how this one was designed as part of the overall 'vision'. I dont think the developers would want to add something to the game like this.

I like/d unlocking everything and then enjoying the freedom of choice. I hardly ever Prestiged (my highest was 2) and would never start a new account in BF just to unlock again. The fact that this game limits you (unlock BC:1 for instance where you chose your path but had everything in the game) is a fresh take that I wish to defend.
