You can recharge enchanted weapons with filled soul gems. Go to the equipment menu and you when you hover over the weapon you should see which button to press. Beware that this slowly raises your enchanting skill!

It depends on your preference. For me it's just an obsessive compulsive thing to keep skills I don't use at 15.

Me too! I am glad I was not the only one. I don't like getting my level buffed with books and marginal skills. Too many perks and enemies that scale change the feel of the game to quickly.

Block 15 2hand 15 conjuration 15 pickpocket 15 ect ect.

81 perks and an outlandish character isn't my style.

Edit: I particularly avoid the levelups to scale my enemies in the 5 ranges. 30 35 40 45 50 I find that is where big changes occur. and i REALLY despise the fact that all endgame draugr have the shouts of dragons. Really? seems like being a dragonborn would be nothing back in the day when every tom-dike-and now zombie can shout too.

One does not have to be Dragonborn to use shouts. It just takes intense study. For the Dragonborn, its intrinsic. Ulfric studied with the Graybeards for years, and he can Shout.

Um hum, and all those zombies each had years of intensive study and mastered some of the power of the voice? I can't buy it and it is jarring (for me) - for it to be so commonplace. If it were so common then, the nords should have conquered everything.

According to the loading screen, Draguar served the dragons when they were living. That's probably where they learned to shout.

Udey - There is a theory that the Draugr once served the dragons, and were taught several shouts by their dragon masters.

Muzza - If you want to use an enchanted weapon, you have to use soul gems to recharge them, so you cant avoid raising your enchanting level a bit. I wouldnt worry about it. I wish we could pay to get our weapons refilled like in oblivion, but we cant.

I suppose this is a reasonable and good explaination. Color me dissapointed at the shouts none-the-less.

you will need to recharge any magic weapons with filled soul gems.

you can go up in Conjuration by using Soul Trap to fill the soul gems.

you will go up in Enchanting by recharging magic weapons.

as to whether it is a good or bad thing to do all depends on you playing style.

i believe all character skills should be at least 50 so that my character can do everything well.

I want to be able to level up, so I don't mind skills going up even if they're not ones upon which I rely heavily.

Being able to recharge a weapon out in the field is a wonderful thing. (specially 1/2 way through a dungon)

Yes, your enchanting skill will go up - alot over time - if you recharge your (and a followers) weapon(s) during 100's of hours of play time.

I consider it a good thing as once my enchanting skill gets high enough I plan on making my own enchanted gear. Its just another facet of the game.
